Driving Experience
Includes acceleration and handling
What Owners Say
"Has good acceleration, handle well"
Anonymous, CO (2012 GMC Acadia)"Though it is a medium sized SUV it does drive similar to a car. It doesn't feel like driving a big vehicle, and the backup sensors and camera help mitigate the truck like feel."
Anonymous, NC (2012 GMC Acadia)"Very fast and accelerates well"
JEFFREY C., GA (2012 GMC Acadia)"Great handling, good accereration"
MICHAEL S., IL (2012 GMC Acadia)"Hesitation when accelerating hard. Seems to be a common occurance."
Anonymous, KY (2012 GMC Acadia)"It does not give you the ride comfort that the GMC Yukon we owned previously provided."
ROBERT P., NY (2012 GMC Acadia)"Sometimes hesitates when accelerating. Turning radius not great. When turning too sharply, the car makes a clunk sound."
Anonymous, GA (2012 GMC Acadia)"The driving qualities are tremendous for this SUV. The engine kicks in with lots of power and the driving performance is extremely comfortable, quiet and sure footed. I did not expect this SUV to drive like a car."
Anonymous, TX (2012 GMC Acadia)"Engine sounds like it's in a strain when shifting through the gears. Takes more effort to turn the steering wheel than it should."
NORMAN D., KY (2012 GMC Acadia)"2012 Acadia seems a little sluggish when accelerating."
Anonymous, PA (2012 GMC Acadia)"Lots of power"
FRED D., ON (2012 GMC Acadia)"Drives good does not get stuck good quality"
JACKIE K., WI (2012 GMC Acadia)"Still very satisfied"
Anonymous, TX (2012 GMC Acadia)"Acceleration is adequate, especially from a stop, but the engine has to wind up more than I like to achieve that, and it is more audible than I would like. Handling is OK, but there isn't a lot of road feel, and it feels like a larger vehicle than it really is."
Keith S., IA (2012 GMC Acadia)"I do a LOT of highway/interstate driving, which means I pass A LOT of semi-tractor-trailer-trucks! My V6 is OK in town. I really have to press my Big-As*-Red-Truck, aka BART's, gas "pedal to the metal" like mad to pass semi's. It doesn't have enough power to get the job done like my V-8 Mountaineer did. I also have owned a Ford F-250 V-10 cab/cap four door "Beast" that flew past anything & everything! So I guess I've been spoiled for anything else power-wise. Still...my Acadia Denali should be able to pass trucks better. It really strains to keep up the pressure/acceleration I ask it for. Otherwise, I LOVE MY ACADIA!"
Anonymous, FL (2012 GMC Acadia)"Not so great."
Anonymous, NY (2012 GMC Acadia)"This vehicle has developed a chugging or sputtering engine while climbing roads slightly up hill that car repait shops have not been able to fix. There's also a sluggishness to accelerating at times, and when the car is in park it rocks back and forth."
Anonymous, NY (2012 GMC Acadia)"Superior acceleration but the vehicle is having severe problems with surging and hesitation and dealer cannot locate the problem."
Jeffrey C., GA (2012 GMC Acadia)
"The V6 gives strong accelration without sounding harsh. For a fairly large suv it corners confidently and is easy to park"
Richard M., NC (2012 GMC Acadia)
