General Motors might not build minivans anymore but that doesn't mean they're out of the big family-vehicle market, as three-row SUVs such as the Chevrolet Traverse, GMC Acadia and Buick Enclave corporate trio demonstrates. The test results for our Traverse test vehicle also apply to the Acadia, which differs only in styling details.

Overall Owner Satisfaction

Consumer Reports’ Annual Owner Satisfaction Survey can improve the chances of finding a compatible car match. How? Our survey data reveals whether, all things considered, owners would buy the same car again. The answer to that question is what determines our owner-satisfaction rating, which is a powerful piece of intel because it predicts how well a particular model will satisfy other owners.

Overall Owner Satisfaction

Owner Satisfaction with:

Driving Experience

Includes acceleration and handling

What Owners Say

“Rough ride-feel every bump”

GARY B., SD (2016 GMC Acadia)

“For a larger vehicle it handles great around town and in the mountains. Enough power to get up the passess, AWD for snowy days and icey roads, but nimble enough to park at the mall. Two 16 years old girls learned in this vehicle and a 2013 Acadia that we traded in for this one. Both love to drive the car and take their friends with them.”

BLAKE S., CO (2016 GMC Acadia)

“I WISH IT HAD MORE ACCELERATION, ESPECIALLY WHEN PASSING”

JAMES H., WA (2016 GMC Acadia)

“bad road noise”

GARY N., WA (2016 GMC Acadia)

“The around town miles per gallon is about 10. I thought I would get about 13”

JOHN S., CA (2016 GMC Acadia)

“It seems quicker than our Explorer was from 0-60, its handling is fine for an SUV.”

KELLEY S., GA (2016 GMC Acadia)

Comfort

Includes seats, climate control, noise, and ride

What Owners Say

“Seats are hard and uncomfortable for long trips.”

Anonymous, AL (2016 GMC Acadia)

“The seats are very hard/uncomfortable. The ride is stiff, it is a SUV after all. For myself, as an older person, the special intelisystem features are very difficult to understand. They make my head hurt!!! It is a fisty little thing though. Over all, I enjoy driving it.”

Anonymous, CA (2016 GMC Acadia)

“The climate control has warm and cold area during the winter months, and it takes a considerable amount of time for the air conditioning to cool the interior during the summer.”

Anonymous, IN (2016 GMC Acadia)

“Rides like a buckboard”

JOHN B., PA (2016 GMC Acadia)

“Seats are not as comfortable as the Trailblazer or Suburban. They are squishy are the sides - too tight. Sound for favorites is a pain to try to go from one driver to the next. Too small to hit the various buttons. Better in the 2008 Suburban.”

SAMANTHA J., NH (2016 GMC Acadia)

“The Acadia is very smooth better than my old Caddy. No noise from outside or very little, seats are very comfy”

JAMES C., NY (2016 GMC Acadia)

“The ride is smooth and quiet, I like the climate controls (knobs instead of push buttons), I also like the seats. My wife liked the seats in our 2014 Explorer better. I am 6'4" though.”

KELLEY S., GA (2016 GMC Acadia)

“Seats and access to rear seats is great. We haul several kids for girl scouts and other activities, with all their gear, and have plenty of room. This car is so quiet and relaxing to drive both locally and on longer trips. Stereo, climate control and all other features are nicely done and work great. The fit and finish is all great.”

BLAKE S., CO (2016 GMC Acadia)

“Just everything is excellent”

Anonymous, IA (2016 GMC Acadia)

“Seats are not quite as comfortable as my previous Buick Enclave. The Acadia seats are stiffer”

Anonymous, ME (2016 GMC Acadia)

“seats are a little too soft so therefore use a cushion to keep my back straight up”

Anonymous, NY (2016 GMC Acadia)

Value

Did you get what you wanted relative to the price you paid?

What Owners Say

“The vehicle is very nice, but i think the price is a bit step for what you get.”

Anonymous, WI (2016 GMC Acadia)

“This car was a dealer rental for people who were having their car serviced. I got a great deal due to it being "used". It had 3800 miles on it so with dealer incentives and a GM supplier discount, I got a great deal.”

LARRY K., GA (2016 GMC Acadia)

“I like all the extras”

Anonymous, IA (2016 GMC Acadia)

Styling

How it looks inside and out

What Owners Say

ANTHONY S., CT (2016 GMC Acadia)

“It looks like a lot of other SUVs on the outside”
