The Sierra and its Chevy Silverado twin were redesigned and much improved for 1999. Engines are smaller but more powerful and economical, and the interior feels spacious. Braking and handling are also better. Four-door extended-cab versions are the only extended-cab pickups with decent rear seats. Four-wheel-drive models offer an Autotrac system that can remain engaged all the time.

"The brake system on the truck is the worst I have ever had to deal with. I had to replace the hole system both front and back. The ABS system failed many times so I had to disconnect it. I had to put on a high performance brake system (SSBC) on the rear and high performance on the front as well myself. The park brake also was poorly designed too. Part of the reason was where the stock products were made, in CHINA! I also had to replace all of the brake lines. Now that I changed the brake syste"
