This full-sized pickup truck, and its Chevrolet Silverado twin, have been redesigned for 2007. It shares a platform with the Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon. The new Sierra retains the previous model's selectable, full-time, four-wheel-drive system and a generous load capacity. Electronic stability control is standard in the crew-cab model, but optional in the extended cab.

Reliability indicates how models have performed in the past, providing the basis for predicting how the vehicles will hold up in the year ahead. These charts provide the most comprehensive reliability information available to consumers. Based on information received from our latest subscriber survey for over 300,000 vehicles, our reliability history charts give you a rundown on how 2000 through 2021 vehicles are holding up in 17 potential trouble spots, ranging from the engine, transmission, and brakes to power equipment and the electrical system. NA indicates that we did not receive a large enough sample size to provide data for a specific year. An X indicates that the vehicle was not manufactured for a specific year.

Richard M., CA (2007 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE 5.3-L V8)

"On the 4th set of brakes, since I purchased the truck. Front disc and rear drum brake system. Bad modulator valve. GM would not replace, because there was no recall issued. My bad luck in purchasing a Lemon."

Richard M., CA (2007 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE 5.3-L V8)

"Premature brake wear was due to inferior products installed by Les Schwab tires"

Randy D., OR (2007 GMC Sierra 1500 SLT 5.3-L V8)

"Premature brake wear seems to e a tendency attributed to the installer. Based on my research, over torquing the lug nuts can lead to pre mature wearing based on wheel spin that replicates wheel balance issues. In fact, it leads to rotor warp. This appears to be an installation issue when tires are rotated and from initial brake replacement. Unfortunately, there appears to be no reasonable way to prove the cause of the rotor warp. It is not from heavy braking or trailer pulling."

Randy D., OR (2007 GMC Sierra 1500 SLT 5.3-L V8)

Richard H., TX (2007 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE 5.3-L V8)
