Overall Owner Satisfaction

Consumer Reports’ Annual Owner Satisfaction Survey can improve the chances of finding a compatible car match. How? Our survey data reveals whether, all things considered, owners would buy the same car again. The answer to that question is what determines our owner-satisfaction rating, which is a powerful piece of intel because it predicts how well a particular model will satisfy other owners.

Anonymous, TX (2011 GMC Sierra 1500)

"Great performance and pulls my 29 ft trailer well"

Anonymous, KS (2011 GMC Sierra 1500)

"The one and only complaint I have with this vehicle is regarding the overrev limiter. Understand its purpose but hate when the engine cuts out at 100 MPH. Otherwise flawless vehicle."

"Great for towing."

Anonymous, BC (2011 GMC Sierra 1500)

Michael L., AZ (2011 GMC Sierra 1500)

"The 5.3 engine is slightly under powered for passing and the 6.0 is too powerful for everyday driving. I had 360 HP engine in my Jeep Cherokee Limited full time 4 wheel drive. About the same gas millage I get now, but great for passing on the hiway"

Anonymous, MN (2011 GMC Sierra 1500)

"Engine and transmission."

Gene D., TX (2011 GMC Sierra 1500)

"Transmission shift points are the main sore point with me and this truck."

Grant W., BC (2011 GMC Sierra 1500)

"Doesn't and never has shifted properly when I change speeds. It doesn't always accelerate properly and doesn't shift smoothly when I accelerate from a slow stop(i.e. light turns green before I stop). It shifts hard."

Anonymous, CA (2011 GMC Sierra 1500)

"good acceleration & handling"

Anonymous, WI (2011 GMC Sierra 1500)

Anonymous, MI (2011 GMC Sierra 1500)

"It doesnt excelerate as smoothly as I think it should."

Anonymous, NY (2011 GMC Sierra 1500)

"shacks at 114 mph handles well for truck good to catch speeding tickets wish bed was bigger but would have to go to 2500 size"

R P., NH (2011 GMC Sierra 1500)

"This is the best cross country vehicle I have ever owned and I've owned a lot (Station wagons to Suburbans to pick-up trucks)."

ROBERT R., TN (2011 GMC Sierra 1500)

"Very strong in perf., but moderate bumps in road move the truck around substantially."

RICHARD L., MI (2011 GMC Sierra 1500)

Comfort

Includes seats, climate control, noise, and ride

What Owners Say

"It is comfortable and quiet. The driver seat adjusts and since I am 5' 3", I appreciate this feature. The ride is usually very good."

Anonymous, WV (2011 GMC Sierra 1500)

"The front seats are VERY comfortable, and I have adjustable both sides which is really a great plus. The back could be better but again for a truck really good. Better than my Impala or Honda"

"Still great after seven years. Quiet with good seats."

Michael L., AZ (2011 GMC Sierra 1500)

"love comfort of seats in most GM products, ride is great"

Anonymous, FL (2011 GMC Sierra 1500)

"Obviously its a truck but rides quite well and have taken it on many long trips and never felt fatigued. a little noisy but tires have a lot to do with that. On my third set and settled for the Michelin defenders. Never had a vehicle so warm and sure footed in the winter. Wife is happy with room and comfort levels also. Visibility is good, can haul whatever I want safely. Best vehicle I have ever owned and I'm 65 years old. Love this thing."

Daniel I., PA (2011 GMC Sierra 1500)

"Very comfortable seats. Smooth quiet ride."

Grant W., BC (2011 GMC Sierra 1500)

Anonymous, ON (2011 GMC Sierra 1500)

Anonymous, TX (2011 GMC Sierra 1500)

"Interior cab noise should be reduced."

ROBERT R., TN (2011 GMC Sierra 1500)

"It would be a huge value addition if GMC were to add air conditioning vents in the rear of the cab for the back seat passengers."

Anonymous, NV (2011 GMC Sierra 1500)

Value

Did you get what you wanted relative to the price you paid?

What Owners Say

"Truck performs well no repairs in 7 years of service, only regular maintenancce. Does everything I needed a truck for. Has been very dependable."

Anonymous, CA (2011 GMC Sierra 1500)

"Love this truck and plan on retaining it for a long, long time. Looks great, runs great, very comfortable and only normal maintenance throughout its life."

Randy B., TX (2011 GMC Sierra 1500)

"Resale value outstanding, Holds up well to salt and terrible Erie PA winters. (I do use Krown undercoating every year). This truck is well equipped to work, play and travel. Will sell it this year and get almost half of my original cost back. One point I forgot were the chrome wheels did not hold up well."

Daniel I., PA (2011 GMC Sierra 1500)

"Runs like new"

G K., CA (2011 GMC Sierra 1500)

"bought at the end of model year clearance and got a good price on an instock vehicle"

Lionel T., AB (2011 GMC Sierra 1500)

"Great price and runs like new"

G K., CA (2011 GMC Sierra 1500)

"Very practical vehicle, fits my whole family, is tall, rides smoothly, accelerates well given its weight and I have not had any serious issue with it. Small issues here and there (headlights burn out quickly, driver side power window buttons, alignment) but engine, transmission, body, paint, upholstery are all doing very well given the truck's age and mileage."

Anonymous, TX (2011 GMC Sierra 1500)

"I have owned this truck for seven years and still love driving it. It is my second GMC pickup and I'm sold on the brand. Great truck!"

Robert C., MA (2011 GMC Sierra 1500)

"As my 10th GMC, I am disappointed in the number and amount of expense in breakdowns with just 65 Kmiles. Tire monitors, Front Bearing&Hub replaced. Two door trim panels failed, Transmission already running rough."

CHARLES E., TX (2011 GMC Sierra 1500)

"cost way to high for actual value"

Anonymous, FL (2011 GMC Sierra 1500)

Styling

How it looks inside and out

What Owners Say

"The grill and the lines of the truck are beautiful and have stayed stylish."

CLINT S., UT (2011 GMC Sierra 1500)

"Overall a GREAT truck. The only aggravating factor was I have replaced every door handle the originals all just pulled out of the door in my hand. Otherwise get lots of compliments on looks. Accelerates well 4 wheel drive very effective and very conveniently disengages for flat towing behind Motorhome. Overall like to have a new only black this time."

JIM L., FL (2011 GMC Sierra 1500)

"Like the crew cab as opposed to the four door models"

Anonymous, NE (2011 GMC Sierra 1500)

"goes like hell installed heated leather seats would like back up camera have audio back up would like better AM reception listen to talk Siris sucks around here will not buy"

R P., NH (2011 GMC Sierra 1500)

"Still good looking in and out."
