The outgoing Sierra and its Chevrolet Silverado twin are well-rounded pickups with an available full-time four-wheel-drive system and generous payload capacity. Ride quality is decent with the Z85 suspension, and handling is secure. High-end models have very good interior fit and finish, but all have simple controls. The crew cab is roomy, with easy access.

Overall Owner Satisfaction

Consumer Reports’ Annual Owner Satisfaction Survey can improve the chances of finding a compatible car match. How? Our survey data reveals whether, all things considered, owners would buy the same car again. The answer to that question is what determines our owner-satisfaction rating, which is a powerful piece of intel because it predicts how well a particular model will satisfy other owners.

Overall Owner Satisfaction

Owner Satisfaction with:

Driving Experience

Includes acceleration and handling

What Owners Say

"Handles very well and holds the road well. Was aligned by a tire company with a new Hunter alignment system which made a great difference in the handling and evened out the tire wear."

Anonymous, VA (2013 GMC Sierra 1500)

"Truck automatically shifts frequently to maintain speed."

Anonymous, MI (2013 GMC Sierra 1500)

"I have gotten up to 20 mpg at time with this truck, yet it has a great deal of power. I wanted the 5.3 L engine for the power and it has plenty. Unfortunately, I have not had much towing experience with it."

BARON S., KS (2013 GMC Sierra 1500)

"It has a 5.4 ltr. engin. Except for occasional turbo lag it is a great performer. Truck is 6000 lbs. Hugs the road and corners well. Electric steering is a great aid."

Emil W., WA (2013 GMC Sierra 1500)

"brakes have never been as good as I expected. They glaze much too often."

Terry W., LA (2013 GMC Sierra 1500)

"Truck has plenty of power. I am in construction and have hauled plenty of loads without a problem. Handling is decent."

Gary N., IL (2013 GMC Sierra 1500)

"The acceleration and handling is great in the Sierra. It hugs the corners and the 6.2l engine has good passing power on the highway."

Ralph B., BC (2013 GMC Sierra 1500)

"Acceleration is great and handles very well in all types weather."

John B., PA (2013 GMC Sierra 1500)

"I use cruise control a lot in my other vehicles. The Sierra cruise control acceleration is like pushing the accelerator pedal to the floor. There is no finesse at all, just full throttle"

Bill K., WY (2013 GMC Sierra 1500)

"We travel with a fully self contained slide in camper and our truck handles the load beautifully."

Jeffrey W., NH (2013 GMC Sierra 1500)

"Suspension is jiggly and does not handle speed bumps well. Too Bad GMC did not spend a little more on the front suspension, because this would have been an outstanding ride. Very quite ride."

James T., NM (2013 GMC Sierra 1500)

"I like everything about it."

Vici M., MO (2013 GMC Sierra 1500)

"Ride & handling for a truck is excellent!!"

Anonymous, MI (2013 GMC Sierra 1500)

"It is a truck. The 5.3 has good power, but it handles like a truck."

Mike T., BC (2013 GMC Sierra 1500)

Includes seats, climate control, noise, and ride

What Owners Say

"Ride is extremely smooth. BFGoodrich tires on it now."

Anonymous, VA (2013 GMC Sierra 1500)

"There is some road noise that is a bit loud and have turn the radio up. very comfortable seats. We usually drive this vehicle on trips because of comfortable seating vs sedan. I love the phone Bluetooth."

THOMAS P., OK (2013 GMC Sierra 1500)

"Seating is comfortable, has multiple positioning"

TERESA T., NM (2013 GMC Sierra 1500)

"Both passenger and driver seats are very comfortable and have electronic controls which includes lumbar support and heat."

DEB H., ON (2013 GMC Sierra 1500)

"Bad squeak in back seat. Appears to be common on this model."

Anonymous, TN (2013 GMC Sierra 1500)

"Cooling feature seats and ride comfort"

Anonymous, MN (2013 GMC Sierra 1500)

"Very comfortable ride. Quiet, well insulated. It rides like a luxury car instead of a truck."

Anonymous, OH (2013 GMC Sierra 1500)

"There is lots of room in all seating areas and lots of room in the second row with the seats folded up."

Anonymous, MI (2013 GMC Sierra 1500)

"This is the third Sierra I have owned. I am not a fan of the seats in this truck at all. It is the SLE so it does not have the better power and heated leather seats. The ride is good for a 4wd and it is pretty quiet in the cab."

Gary N., IL (2013 GMC Sierra 1500)

"the worst part of my ownership is the highway noise in this truck it is very bad!!!!!"

Elvis R., AL (2013 GMC Sierra 1500)

"Leather seats are great."

Anonymous, WI (2013 GMC Sierra 1500)

Did you get what you wanted relative to the price you paid?

What Owners Say

"I felt I was taken advantage of by the dealer. The salesmen were very high pressure and would not give me time to consider any type of changes. In the end, I ended up paying for options I have no intention of using because of the shabby treatment I encountered. I do not want to drive into the car dealer lot or talk to anyone from that dealer ever again. I will never buy another vehicle from them. Overall, the truck is a good one, but it was not worth what I paid for it."

TIM S., WI (2013 GMC Sierra 1500)

"Got during a major sales event with about $8000 off list price."

Anonymous, TX (2013 GMC Sierra 1500)

"I bought this truck with all the features I wanted and some I didn't care about for nearly $35000 less than one I test drove. It did have some features the one I bought doesn't have but most I have added aftermarket for around $2000 total."

MICHAEL N., GA (2013 GMC Sierra 1500)

"The only line of trucks that has an 8' box plus a second row of seats. I really needed this room for my wprk truck."

MIKE P., BC (2013 GMC Sierra 1500)

"The truck has served me well. It has been an extremely good value for the money."

John B., PA (2013 GMC Sierra 1500)

"Good value for the performance"

Anonymous, MN (2013 GMC Sierra 1500)

How it looks inside and out

What Owners Say

"Very pleased with styling of truck. Look reflect the functionality of the vehicle, simple and efficient."

Anonymous, TX (2013 GMC Sierra 1500)

"Interior compartments in the dash are too small and lost the overhead compartment all together. The Dodge trucks are more user friendly."

Anonymous, MI (2013 GMC Sierra 1500)

"Just wish I had gotten leather interior. Cloth is hard to take care of."

DANNY G., KY (2013 GMC Sierra 1500)
