GMC Sierra 1500

The outgoing Sierra and its Chevrolet Silverado twin are well-rounded pickups with an available full-time four-wheel-drive system and generous payload capacity. Ride quality is decent with the Z85 suspension, and handling is secure. High-end models have very good interior fit and finish, but all have simple controls. The crew cab is roomy, with easy access. A six-speed automatic slightly improves fuel economy and acceleration with the tested 5.3-liter V8. A hybrid model is available; we found it considerably improved fuel economy on the Tahoe hybrid we tested.
