    First Take
The Accord Hybrid achieved an impressive 47 mpg overall in our testing without sacrificing acceleration or trunk space. It is powered by a 2-liter four-cylinder engine paired with an electric motor good for 212-hp total. Buyers can also opt for a choice of two turbocharged, four-cylinder engines. The base version gets a 192-hp, 1.5-liter engine mated to a continuously variable transmission, a combination that is mostly unobtrusive and delivers adequate power. The up-level turbocharged 2.0-liter brings 252 hp and a slick 10-speed automatic, but features an unintuitive push-button gear selector. The infotainment system includes easy-to-use knobs for tuning and volume adjustment. Handling is responsive, and the ride is comfortable. Standard safety equipment includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, and lane keeping assistance. Blind spot warning and rear cross traffic warning are optional.
