That and the failure to check for updates suggest to me that it's the phone, possibly coupled with cellular data from my T Mobile that fails now and then."

"I will occasionally get unexpected "hiccups" in the Android Auto connection. Music will skip similarly to a CD with a scratch on it (back in the day...)"
