    Owner Reported Trouble Spots

The Reliability score is based on our latest subscriber survey of 2018 Honda Clarity owners. The owner comments describe problems respondents experienced with this vehicle.

    Climate System

AC compressor, blower (fan) motor, condenser, evaporator, heater system, automatic climate system, electrical failure, refrigerant leakage.

    What Owners Say

    A/C compressor

"Wouldnt cool. Dealership tested A few times in 2022, and finally got it to work. Problem recurred and was finally diagnosed properly as a compressor issue in 2023, covered under warranty. Works fine now."

    Anonymous, CA (2018 Honda Clarity Plug-in 1.5-L 4 Cyl plug-in hybrid)
    Condenser

"When I purchased my vehicle used it was not disclosed to me there was an issue with the AC. The dealership did not want to help me and eventually replaced the refrigerant, but did not replace the defective part, so it stopped cooling again once the refrigerant leaked out. I took it to another dealership and they did not have the parts, replaced the refrigerant again and never got back to me about parts being available. I contacted Honda Corporate who initially seemed concerned and willing to help me resolve the problem, but later assigned it to someone who was purposefully unhelpful. Shortly after I bought the vehicle and had issues with the dealership a warranty extension was made for the condenser as this is a KNOWN issue for this car, and yet no one ever took responsibility to help me get this resolved."

    Anonymous A., CA (2018 Honda Clarity Plug-in 1.5-L 4 Cyl plug-in hybrid)
    Refrigerant leaks

"In June 2023 I noticed that the A/C was very slow in cooling. I took the car to the dealer's shop and they found that the compressor o-rings were leaking. They were replaced at no cost because I had purchased an extended warranty."

    Anonymous, IL (2018 Honda Clarity Plug-in 1.5-L 4 Cyl plug-in hybrid)

    Fuel System/Emissions

Sensors (O₂, or oxygen, sensor), emission-control devices (includes EGR), fuel-injection system, fuel gauge/sender, fuel pump, problems filling up the tank.

    What Owners Say

    Fuel pump

"vehicle loses power and is a danger. There is a fuel pump real but dealers don't have the part. I was told dealers ask no longer able to see vehicle. I was also told Honda does not know the fix"

    Anonymous, GA (2018 Honda Clarity Plug-in 1.5-L 4 Cyl plug-in hybrid)

    "Recall"

    Anonymous, BC (2018 Honda Clarity Plug-in 1.5-L 4 Cyl plug-in hybrid)
