"Auto had less than 30k miles when the air cond itioning stopped working. I read on-line that this has occurred for many owners of the same model/year. Honda will not do a recall. It is not covered in the warranty. It will cost $2500 to fix. That's too much for a car with only 30k miles."

"I've grown to depend on this. I never know when not to. Dangerous."

    Display screen goes blank

""This car is in Ruskin FL. It seem that this happens when the car sits in the sun and the interior heats up, when subsequently driving, the display screen with flicker off, then on, the off then on, continuously, making loud clicking noises. Weve reduced the brightness to no effect. But we have discovered that if we pull over and shut the car off for a short time, a minute, when restarted it will usually act normal for a while.""

    Anonymous A., NY (2018 Honda CR-V LX 2.4-L 4 Cyl)

It shows green and pink colors day and night.""

"Shut the car down and it reboots and works fine"

Anonymous, TX (2018 Honda CR-V EX 1.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)

""Randomly the display screen goes haywire--flashes from screen to screen, goes blank, menu buttons won't work. The only resort is to turn the car off then back on. Sometimes you have to do this multiple times before it stops. I've been told it's because the screen gets too hot in the summer but it has also done it in the winter before the car warms up.""

Anonymous, OH (2018 Honda CR-V Touring 1.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)

""It started about 3-5 years ago but when I told the dealer they said they would have to see it happening, not a video of it. I never have been able to get to the dealer when it was happening. I suspect others have probably had the same experience.""

    Anonymous A., CA (2018 Honda CR-V EX-L 1.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)

""The screen would start blinking on and off, changing screens etc. Had to take it to Honda to have it re-programmed, for a charge of course.""

Anonymous, MI (2018 Honda CR-V Touring 1.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)

""Display would randomly indicate a problem with the Brightness control, but was unresponsive to touch. The screen would dim, then brighten, showing the Brightness level graph. After a few cycles between bright and dim, the screen would go blank and not respond to touch. Turning off the audio had no effect, but shutting off the ignition and allowing the vehicle to sit for a few minutes seemed to rectify the problem. Honda has released a firmware update to correct this issue, and it should be done by a dealership, as it requires two flash drives and a download of the update.""

    Anonymous A., OH (2018 Honda CR-V EX 1.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)

"OCCASIONALLY THE INFORMATION SCREEN GOES BLANK. NEED TO SHUT OFF THE VEHICLE FOR A WHILE AND IT THEN WORKS."

    Anonymous, CO (2018 Honda CR-V Touring 2.4-L 4 Cyl)

"Screen sometimes goes blank for no obvious reason. Shut down and restart a couple of times cleared the issue."

    Anonymous, WA (2018 Honda CR-V EX-L 1.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)
    Hardware replacement

"The head unit said it had a problem updating software. Two dealerships could not achieve this. One dealership said I had to replace head unit and display unit for $2500. Another said I had to replace the head unit for $1000. (These numbers are approximate.) I reached out to Honda corporate and told them this was unacceptable. They agreed to replace head unit for $500. I took the offer. But this whole problem is very unHonda like. I've been buying their cars since 1979. Not good."

    Anonymous A., CA (2018 Honda CR-V EX-L 1.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)

    Anonymous, NC (2018 Honda CR-V EX-L 2.4-L 4 Cyl)

"Sometimes when its bright out the Display Screen will go Hooey ! It will beep and blink. When you turn off the car it stops. We've lived with it for the past Four years because it doesn't happen all the time !!!"

    Anonymous, MA (2018 Honda CR-V EX-L 1.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)

""The car display goes dark intermittently. I can still see numbers on the display, but very hard as they turn much darker. It seems it tends to happen when brake is pressed forcefully, but it can be just dark even just at the start of the engine. Please note, this is not because of any setting of the display as once it turns dark, no setting can make it brighter.""

Anonymous, MI (2018 Honda CR-V EX 1.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)

"People with whom I speak on the phone through the car's microphone consistently tell me that I sound like I'm underwater and often have difficulty hearing me. Googling led me to believe this is a common problem in CR-Vs from this period. On a positive note, it gets much better fuel efficiency that the reviews I read (usually 32-34mpg)."

Anonymous, CA (2018 Honda CR-V EX 1.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)

    Anonymous A., NH (2018 Honda CR-V EX-L 1.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)

""It started when it was purchased. It happens a few times a year, where the screen will beep and cycle through the brightness settings rapidly from off to dim to max brightness and then off again. This does not stop on its own usually, and the vehicle must be turned off and back on to fix the issue. I have mentioned it to Honda dealership and they said they haven't heard of that but I showed them video and have read it happening to many other folks.""

Anonymous, CA (2018 Honda CR-V EX 1.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)

    What Owners Say

    Fuel injection system

"Fuel injector was clogged/bad and had to be replaced. Check engine light and rough engine were the symptoms. The car was still driveable to the dealership where we chose to have it fixed. $1400 repair. I have some concern that this is only one of four injectors in the engine."

    Anonymous A., OH (2018 Honda CR-V EX-L 1.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)

"Upon starting this vehicle up, there were several major systems failure warnings on the screen. The Honda dealership diagnosed the problem coming from faulty fuel injectors. Which were replaced and ended up costing approx. $2,000. After further investigation the 2017/2018 Honda CR-V models are noted for having faulty fuel injectors. Which Honda is aware of, but has made no attempt to remedy the issue, other than charging customers to have the fuel injectors replaced."

    Anonymous, IL (2018 Honda CR-V EX 2.4-L 4 Cyl)

""The issue with the fuel pump is part of a current recall, for which parts were not available for some time, but was considered a serious safety issue. Parts are now available, and we will have the fuel pump replaced soon. For the past few months, the engine runs rather rough for the first few minutes, with some chugging and shaking, but then smooths out, for the most part, once it warms up. There is also sometimes a hesitation when taking off from a stop, like the engine doesn't get gas immediately, so you have to give it extra gas in order to get a response. We hope to have the fuel pump replaced within the next two weeks, and hopefully that will resolve the issue.""

""This vehicle was always serviced at the dealer. They insisted that we only needed to change the oil when the maintenance minder indicated it was time per Hondas instructions to them. This came out to about 10,000 miles between oil changes. I always thought this was excessive, but they insisted it was OK. Fast forward to 105,000 miles and the cams, bearings, position sensors, chain and gears all had to be replaced due to excessive wear from lack of lubrication caused by the oil breaking down with the long oil change intervals. This was a $5000 repair. Despite our always using the dealer for maintenance, they would not provide any type of discount. I also filed a complaint with American Honda saying that this is an unreasonable failure considering the vehicle received all of the recommended maintenance. The claim was denied because the vehicle was out of warranty. My conclusion is that Honda no longer cares about quality or its customers. After owning five Honda cars, two Honda motorcycles, and numerous other Honda pieces of equipment (mowers, generator, snowblower, etc.), I will not be purchasing any of their products in the future and would recommend that everyone stays away from their products because they no longer stand behind their products.""
