The Element is an offbeat utility vehicle with plenty of interior space. But it seats only four, the low weight-carrying capacity limits its utility and large roof pillars compromise outward visibility. Interior noise is pronounced and the ride is stiff and jittery. Handling is fairly nimble, but in emergency maneuvers, the tail tends to slide out, even with stability control.

    Overall Owner Satisfaction

Consumer Reports’ Annual Owner Satisfaction Survey can improve the chances of finding a compatible car match. How? Our survey data reveals whether, all things considered, owners would buy the same car again. The answer to that question is what determines our owner-satisfaction rating, which is a powerful piece of intel because it predicts how well a particular model will satisfy other owners.

    What Owners Say

"The bad blind spots and poor rear visibility are our main gripe with the overall vehicle."

MICHAEL D., IL (2010 Honda Element)

"The automatic transmission is the only week spot. It shifts a bit too early and often, but it's not the end of the world. It's just the week spot."

SCOTT G., OH (2010 Honda Element)

"Not as steady on the road as a minivan. The four wheel drive is an unsatisfactory "automatic four wheel drive", not a full time four wheel drive."

CARL H., CO (2010 Honda Element)

"It's great for the back roads of Montana."

JIM B., MT (2010 Honda Element)

"This car handles the road very well secure and confident . It accerates very well for a 4 cyl."

Bob T., SC (2010 Honda Element)

"There is a slight hesitation at a quick start."

Eric T., DC (2010 Honda Element)

"I just finished a 5,555 mil junket through the west and into Canada. The car performed well on the highway, good acceleration in traffic, nice handling in city traffic and good vision. Performed well off road too. Surprising gas mileage, calculated 21 in town and 28 to as high as 36.9 miles on highway. Highest mileage was result of gasoline purchased in Alberta, Canada. Liked interior storage too. Very pleased overall. Did have catalytic stolen from vehicle a few weeks after purchase, very costly repair. Small sensor problem for while after but corrected prior to trip. Have wanted Element for years.."

    W W., IN (2010 Honda Element)

"The handling for steering is touchy."

    What Owners Say

"my previous vehicles were fords and a chevy; pick-up, van and conversion van; and this honda is the first i've driven both short and long distances that I did not need additional cushioning to make the seat comfortable and prevent back aches I'd rate this section higher; but I drive with the windows down, (always have in summer) and this vehicles has more wind noise than either of the 2 pervious fords"

    D B., KY (2010 Honda Element)

"The seats are very comfortable in that the feet and legs are not stretched out in front of you. The heating and air conditioning are excellent. There quite a bit of noise from the ir flow."

MERLE F., IL (2010 Honda Element)

"Needs more seat adjustment for long trips"

    Anonymous, TX (2010 Honda Element)

"Seats are comfortable, hold up well to use and the various configurations (fold flat, fold up to the side, rear seats can be removed) are very useful. Wind/road noise levels on the highway are quite high though."

Ray O., BC (2010 Honda Element)

"Great car,it tends to buck board on rough roads"

    Anonymous, TN (2010 Honda Element)

Did you get what you wanted relative to the price you paid?

    What Owners Say

"Extremely dependable, good in snow, and very low maintenance cost over years of ownership."

RICHARD G., FL (2010 Honda Element)

    "Multipurpose afordable dependable"

John P., MI (2010 Honda Element)

"This is a very versitile car. You can carry a lot of stuff in this car. This car handles the road like a champ, it accelerates very well for a 4 cyl. The clam shell side doors are very use full to get things in and out but are difficult and annoying for passengers to get in and out. Honda should have used a sliding door."

Bob T., SC (2010 Honda Element)

How it looks inside and out

    What Owners Say

"It's a bit unique. It's a blocky looking vehicle but has a lot of room inside. A very useful vehicle and we wish Honda still made one."

JAMES K., MI (2010 Honda Element)

"The Element is very well designed and the cargo area is amazing and spacious. The cargo can be reconfigured with ease."

ERIC T., DC (2010 Honda Element)
