The Element is an offbeat utility vehicle with plenty of interior space. But it seats only four, the low weight-carrying capacity limits its utility and large roof pillars compromise outward visibility. Interior noise is pronounced and the ride is stiff and jittery. Handling is fairly nimble, but in emergency maneuvers, the tail tends to slide out, even with stability control.

    Overall Owner Satisfaction

Consumer Reports’ Annual Owner Satisfaction Survey can improve the chances of finding a compatible car match. How? Our survey data reveals whether, all things considered, owners would buy the same car again. The answer to that question is what determines our owner-satisfaction rating, which is a powerful piece of intel because it predicts how well a particular model will satisfy other owners.

    Value

Did you get what you wanted relative to the price you paid?

    What Owners Say

"The Element was a very reasonably priced vehicle that has tremendous interior space and lots of room for a tall driver like me - I'm 6'5" and I have several inches of spare headroom. It will fit a couple of bicycles inside easily so no need for racks. It can handle a couple of kayaks on the roof easily, and it holds the road in all conditions thanks to the AWD, ABS and skid control."

STEVE M., PA (2011 Honda Element)

"Vevy little technology available (bluetooth, navigation) even as paid options. Honda was sunsetting the model and we suppose they capped investment. Its a shame because the vehicle overall was a tremendous value for a small SUV with suicide doors and an extremely versatile interior."

    Anonymous, TX (2011 Honda Element)

"Considering the lack of driver comfort / convenience that were included at the time...this model was was overpriced. Last model year offered and they were still asking top dollar."

GLENN R., AK (2011 Honda Element)

"Nice little car for doing local stuff. However I do not drive it much since I am 6'3" and am a crampy in it."

    Anonymous, CT (2011 Honda Element)

"Despite the high mileage due to long distance driving, the performance is as good as when it was just purchased."

William D., NC (2011 Honda Element)
