    Noises/Leaks

Squeaks, rattles, wind noises, seals and/or weather stripping, air and water leaks.

    What Owners Say

    Air or water leaks

""Passenger cabin leaked at rear bottom adjacent to truck bed allowing significant water ingress which wet the entire rear carpet. Honda covered part of expense of repair which was due to manufacturing defect. Repair was expensive, necessitating use of 3rd party repair shop and removal of truck bed.""

Anonymous, TN (2019 Honda Ridgeline Sport 3.5-L V6)

""When it rains, water leaks into the cabin from under the rear seat through a defective body seal. The water collects under the carpet and soaks the foam. Initially it is not apparent due to the vapor barrier between the foam and the carpet pile above. Only after complete saturation does the water pool under the rear seat. By that time the foam padding is soaked throughout the truck. Currently I try and garage the Ridgeline when it rains until I can have it repaired. I got one estimate from a body shop between 4 and 5 thousand dollars to seal the defective body seam, dry the truck out, and replace the carpeting assuming the factory installed carpeting is moldy.""

    Anonymous A., RI (2019 Honda Ridgeline RTL 3.5-L V6)
    Other noises & leaks problem

""The noise began as a cold start noise and progressed to be often at first morning start up. The dealership tried resolving it with a service bulletin that listed installing a timing belt pulley shim, but that didnt resolve it. Eventually the solution was to replace all of the timing belt pulleys. I was lucky and it was all covered under the extended warranty I had purchased just before the factory warranty ran out during COVID.""

Anonymous, ON (2019 Honda Ridgeline Unsure 3.5-L V6)

"An unusual intermittent noise has been emanating from the driver's side dashboard area for about the last month. It has not yet been diagnosed and fixed."

    Anonymous A., MA (2019 Honda Ridgeline RTL 3.5-L V6)
    Squeaks or rattles

"As the Ridgeline accelerates a vibrating noise occurs at about 40 mph. It lasts for a few seconds then stops. The problem could not be identified. It does not hinder the operation of the truck."

Anonymous, FL (2019 Honda Ridgeline RTL 3.5-L V6)

"Problem started at 30,000 miles. Spent $300+ to change transmission fluid. If this doesnt fix it Honda recommends flushing transmission fluid 3 times for $500+. If this doesnt work then replace the torque converter for big bucks."

Anonymous, SC (2019 Honda Ridgeline RTL 3.5-L V6)

"Truck had "shudder" at 30-50 mph. The transmission needed multiple fluid changes (first on at 45K miles, then three at 60K miles) to correct the issue. Dealer did the first fluid service at 45K and I personally did the 3X change at 60K."

Anonymous, NE (2019 Honda Ridgeline RTL 3.5-L V6)

    "already did this"

Anonymous, DE (2019 Honda Ridgeline RTS 3.5-L V6)
    Rotors

""I have been experiencing a very slow speed noise and pulse while lightly breaking. Its not as noticeable at normal driving speeds but is annoying at slow speeds, such as while backing the driveway or moving up in traffic at stop lights. Additionally there is a clunk sound when transitioning from forward braking to reverse braking while backing up in the driveway. The noise happens less often when the front brakes have been recently serviced but returns a few months later. The dealership reports no visual problems. There is still a lot of pad left so replacing them and the rotors doesnt make any sense at this time.""

Anonymous, ON (2019 Honda Ridgeline Unsure 3.5-L V6)

    Anonymous A., ME (2019 Honda Ridgeline RTL 3.5-L V6)
    Transmission rebuild or replacement

"Initial problem with problems shifting at 27k under 3yr warranty. Dealership reprogrammed some sensors. At 51 to 52k miles starting having problems again. Brought to Honda dealership who said they found no codes and could not replicate problem. Honda wanted to charge me for further diagnosis and I declined. Wife and I both noted shifting problem. Our regular private mechanic had two mechanics immediately noted the shifting problem in rear drives. Private shop said to take it to a recommended tranmission shop. Transmission shop identified hydraulic failure and no parts available from Honda to repair it. Option was rebuilt trans from Honda for 7500 plus labor or get a used transmission plus trans fluid cooler etc. I got used transmission. Honda regional said they had to believe their mechanics even though I took pictures of the metal shavings found in original transmission. I might participate in a class action lawsuit if that legal action moves forward. This car has a 60k or 5 yr warranty on power train and the transmission had failed a couple months after the time warranty expired. Very disappointed in Honda which cars I have been driving(all manual transmissions) since 1980. Not going to get another Honda."

    Summary:
Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling all Honda Genuine Accessory Tonneau Covers, part number 08Z07-T6Z-100F, sold for installation on 2017-2020 Ridgeline trucks. Honda will notify all registered owners of 2017-2020 Honda Ridgelines, and dealers will install tethers onto any Honda Genuine Accessory Tonneau Cover to prevent panel separation and apply warning labels, free of charge. In the event of a crash, if the curtain air bag does not deploy as intended, it can increase the risk of injury.
    Summary:
Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2019 Honda Ridgeline and Pilot vehicles.
