The Reliability score is based on our latest subscriber survey of 2022 Honda Ridgeline owners. The owner comments describe problems respondents experienced with this vehicle.

In-car Electronics

Infotainment system (audio, GPS, phone), rear entertainment system, backup or other camera/sensors, head-up display.

What Owners Say

Apple CarPlay

"Screen freezes often when connected to IPhone/ Apple carplay"

Anonymous, OH (2022 Honda Ridgeline RTL 3.5-L V6)

""I have a recurring problem linking my iPhone 16 to the Honda info system. The problem is not in the iPhone but in the Honda display. Over time, the system decides it will cooperate. The problem has not been resolved.""

Anonymous, AZ (2022 Honda Ridgeline RTL-E 3.5-L V6)
Display screen freezes up

"Display screen freezes often when connected to IPhone/ Apply CarPlay"

Anonymous, OH (2022 Honda Ridgeline RTL 3.5-L V6)

"At several times when switching apps on the screen and either freeze or go blank. While driving this was a serious safety problem."

Anonymous, WA (2022 Honda Ridgeline RTL-E 3.5-L V6)

"The center display screen is almost always very slow, or unresponsive. It is significantly annoying. It does not seem like it should have been allowed to be sold. Changing screens, trying to select different audio such as different radio stations, is very clunky.Often have to touch "home" or "main menu" to try to get it to respond."

Anonymous A., TX (2022 Honda Ridgeline RTL 3.5-L V6)
Hardware replacement

"Wireless charger replaced with updated charger that now charges phone in a case"

Anonymous, BC (2022 Honda Ridgeline RTL-E 3.5-L V6)
In-dash navigation system (GPS)

"Very poor performance from the expensive built in navigation system in the Ridgeline. It varies from no notice turns to wrong locations and almost never alerts to a traffic problem. I think the entire Honda info system is dangerous to the occupants."

Anonymous, AZ (2022 Honda Ridgeline RTL-E 3.5-L V6)
Steering wheel controls

""The dashboard display controlled by the steering wheel buttons has frozen. All that is displayed is tire pressure, no other information. The buttons to change this don't work.""

Anonymous, PA (2022 Honda Ridgeline RTL-E 3.5-L V6)

Exhaust

Muffler, pipes, catalytic converter, exhaust manifold, heat shields, leaks.

What Owners Say

Other/unsure

"Mirrow on driver side has to be readjusted after every back up. Haven't checked with dealer on how to stop this."

Anonymous, TX (2022 Honda Ridgeline Unsure 3.5-L V6)

"Has a parasitic drain. Happens off and on. Battery completely dead when it hasnt been driven for 3 days. Had dealer examine and couldnt find anything wrong. Had trickle charger installed to help with the problem"

Anonymous A., NE (2022 Honda Ridgeline RTL-E 3.5-L V6)

"The cruise control is not smooth"

Anonymous A., MN (2022 Honda Ridgeline RTL 3.5-L V6)

""While using Eco mode in very cold weather (January 2025), when cornering the engine sputtered and lost power; still running roughly but without much power and the engine light was on. After turning off the engine for 10 minutes, it restarted properly and ran pretty smoothly and the engine light was off. A mechanic used electronic diagnostic equipment, which showed no issues. He searched online and discovered that Honda had conceded that there was a problem in Eco mode in cold weather causing moisture to collect in the air intake and freeze, then melting and potentially getting into the engine. (TSB 24-085: "Misfires and loses power with no check engine lights due to moisture building up in intake and then going into the combustion chamber while turning corners in cold weather.") He noted to me that Honda had made that information in July 2024, apparently based on owner complaints. A Honda dealer made repairs: intake manifold kit, gasket, O rings, EGR pipe gasket and seal, and replaced MAF sensor/air flow meter. The repairs were made in March 2025 and were covered by the vehicle warranty, except for the air flow meter/sensor, which I paid for. I experienced this situation only one time but have stopped using Eco mode.""

Anonymous A., SD (2022 Honda Ridgeline RTL-E 3.5-L V6)

Brakes

Premature pad/rotor wear, pulsation or vibration, antilock system, parking brake, master cylinder, calipers, squeaking, brake failure, regenerative braking.

What Owners Say

Other brakes problem

""The brake booster had a slow vacuum leak since it was new. After three services, I finally got the dealer to replace the booster and the problem is solved.""

Anonymous A., CO (2022 Honda Ridgeline RTL-E 3.5-L V6)
Premature brake wear

""Brakes had some pulsation early on, about 1000 miles. At 15000 miles said I needed a full brake job. Took to another repair shop who indicated it was mainly the front brakes. Rotors would need to be turned but Honda uses very thin rotors and its strongly advised to not turn them. Had work done, and within 1200 miles they were pulsating again. The shop redid their work, which seems to be working for now. I do not ride my brakes, or brake hard often. Ive been driving for 50 years and have never had a problem like this with brakes.""

Anonymous, CO (2022 Honda Ridgeline RTL-E 3.5-L V6)
Rotors

"When the brakes heat up the vibrate a lot when applied. Probably warped rotors"

Anonymous A., TX (2022 Honda Ridgeline RTL 3.5-L V6)

What Owners Say

Engine rebuild or replacement, cylinder head, head gasket, turbocharger or supercharger, timing chain or belt.

What Owners Say

Other major engine problem

"The engine has had an intermittent missfire which started when it was new. I took it to a Honda dealer but they did not make an attempt to repair it. At 20,000 miles it is currently in a Honda dealer to be repaired and I have told them I dont want it back until it is fixed."

Anonymous A., TX (2022 Honda Ridgeline RTL 3.5-L V6)

Transmission Minor

Gear selector and linkage, transmission computer, transmission sensor or solenoid, clutch adjustment, rough shifting, slipping transmission, leaks.

What Owners Say

Other minor transmission & clutch problem

""This happens when going down hill (about a 15 degree angle). Transmission control unit doesn't understand slowing down to stop and turn at the bottom of hill. First it drops a gear and starts slowing, then shifts to a higher gear and the truck speeds up, then it repeats the upshift then downshift to the bottom of the hill.""
