    What Owners Say

    Charge connection problem

"Vehicle became unable to be recharged. Complete charging unit replaced by Hyundai under warranty. We waited 6 weeks for the local dealership to get the replacement parts and install."

    "See my previous response."

Anonymous, MD (2023 Hyundai Tucson Plug-in Hybrid Limited 1.6-L 4 Cyl plug-in hybrid)

    Charging port problem

"Charger stuck in charger port. I released it by using the emergency release in the trunk. I then got a charging system error message. Drove the car to a dealer for warranty repair. Dealer took six weeks to make the repair and refused to give me a loaner. After six days at the dealer I called Hyundai national consumer affairs who opened a case. I then rented a car for the rest of the six weeks until the dealer finished the repair. Hyundai later reimbursed me the entire $1,811 car rental fee. Dealer was extremely difficult to contact about the status of the repair while the car was under repair to replace the onboard charger. I made about 50 calls to the dealer while the car was being repaired but was only able to speak to someone in the service department a few times. When I picked up the car after the repair was completed I asked the dealer why they didnt refer me to Hyundai consumer affairs instead of refusing to give me a loaner. The dealer claimed they didnt know about Hyundai national consumer affairs. The car was only two years old and had about 26,000 miles on it."

Anonymous, MD (2023 Hyundai Tucson Plug-in Hybrid Limited 1.6-L 4 Cyl plug-in hybrid)

"First we had a problem with charge port which wouldn't connect to the charger so they had to replace the charging cable. Then we had a problem with the charger not disconnecting so we had to call roadside assistance and he was able to disconnect it by pressing a red button on the hybrid battery. Hyundai replaced the connector on our vehicle."

"Something was replaced I see warranty and no problems after that"

    Won't charge at home

"Stopped being able to charge. Part in auto replaced at dealership"

Anonymous, ME (2023 Hyundai Tucson Plug-in Hybrid SEL 1.6-L 4 Cyl plug-in hybrid)

""It started after about 11900 miles. The Onboard Charger module was faulty. It could still drive using gas and the battery would charge as normal (i.e. battery would drop to 19% charge, the gas engine would charge it to 20-21% and the car would go into EV mode for a short while until the battery dropped again. Dealer diagnosed the problem and replaced the Onboard Charger Module under warranty, that fixed the problem. Probably about 1.5 weeks total from start of problem to fix, dealer had to order the part.""

Anonymous, CA (2023 Hyundai Tucson Plug-in Hybrid Limited 1.6-L 4 Cyl plug-in hybrid)

"Vehicle would not charge due to a faulty charger control module"

    Anonymous A., ON (2023 Hyundai Tucson Plug-in Hybrid Limited 1.6-L 4 Cyl plug-in hybrid)

""Charging failed entirely. Car spent weeks at the dealer, mostly while dealership service department was waiting for confirmation from corporate that the problem was the battery, which they replaced. It either wasn't the battery or it was the battery and the charging system, because after we got it home, it still failed to charge. Spent another two-plus weeks at the dealer while they waited for the necessary parts. Was finally fixed, has been working fine for several months. All ultimately covered under warranty and loaner vehicle provided.""

We have chosen to go to a different dealership because the wait was so long and they were able to order the parts, which will be available within 2 weeks.
