Jaguar X-Type

EPA MPG: NA

CR's Take
The X-Type is Jaguar's entry-level model and is based on the European Ford Mondeo. All-wheel drive is standard. The 3.0-liter V6 is a lively performer, and the automatic shifts smoothly. Handling is fairly nimble and forgiving. The ride is supple. The cabin is a bit tight, road noise is pronounced, and fit and finish falls a little short of luxury-car expectations. Overall, the car isn't as well rounded as competitors from Audi and BMW, even though it's almost as expensive. Reliability continues to be below average. A wagon version is available. The 2.5-liter V6 has been dropped.
