    Jaguar XF Road Test

    Introduction

The XF replaced the S-Type in 2009. The XF drives very nicely, with agile handling and a comfortable ride. Steering is quick and communicative. The standard V8 provides effortless acceleration and sounds great, but the car is no quicker than some six-cylinder competitors. We got 20 mpg overall on premium. The snug interior is nicely trimmed in wood and leather, but the coupe-like styling cuts into rear-seat room and access. A shifter knob that pops up out of the console and motorized dash vents put on a show when the car is started. The control touchscreen for audio and climate is slow to react, has small buttons, and washes out in sunlight. More powerful engines are added for 2010.
