Jaguar XJ

When this rear-wheel-drive British luxury sedan changed its name from XJ6 to XJ8, it heralded a switch to a new V8 engine. A five-speed automatic transmission contributes to a smooth and spirited drivetrain, making this Jaguar more competitive with premium models from Mercedes, BMW, and Lexus. The ride was already one of the most comfortable of any car made. Accommodations are a bit tight for this class, however. For more rear seating, consider the extended-wheelbase L model.
