Includes acceleration and handling
What Owners Say
"Have driven previous versions of the compass. They sucked. They had no acceleration, handled like bricks and didn’t really return good mileage. Jeep hit one out of the park with the redesign though. Acceleration won’t win any drag races, but you don’t buy a Jeep for that unless it’s a trackhawk Grand Cherokee. It has plenty of acceleration for what the vehicle needs and accelerates smoothly through the 9 speed tranny. Cornering is average for this style vehicle—it’s not a sports car but handles itself with poise in corners and has a nice turning radius. Mileage is outstanding. I average 27 overall but get 30-40+ with the cruise set on the highway."
Anonymous, MI (2018 Jeep Compass)"Our Jeeps have never gotten stuck in snow or mud. It goes anywhere"
Brian G., MI (2018 Jeep Compass)"The ride is very comfortable and not noisy. The acceleration is a weak point and can feel underpowered at times. It is not a good vehicle for performing passing on the highway. There is a lag in shifting."
Joseph C., OH (2018 Jeep Compass)"It has plenty of power."
Anonymous, VT (2018 Jeep Compass)"Acceleration is slow... but i'm not a speedster so i don't mind. Handles quite well."
Jonathan B., MD (2018 Jeep Compass)
"I was a little thrown off by the auto shut off of the engine at first, but I've gotten used to it! The take off seems a bit slow, but I can deal with it!"
