What Owners Say
"The image from the backup camera sometimes shows up as static or a blank blue screen. It does this fairly often and has done it since the car was brand new. I have repeatedly mentioned it to the dealer when taking the car in for service and they even replaced the camera once. But the problem still continues"
Steven B., NY (2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland 3.6-L V6)"Free new software installed by dealer. After the install of software, backup camera did not work as well as before update. View not as clear or bright, looks pastel, fogged out! Sometimes when shifting into reverse view is bright and clear as before update, then blurs out to as pastel color. Took back to dealer and complained, they looked at it, and said they checked it out, and said that nothing was wrong! They have to be blind or do not want to take responsibility for the new software update causing a safety issue!"
Anonymous, WI (2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 3.6-L V6)"Car has been in shop five (5) times for sensor that brakes the car when it gets close to another vehicle although there is never a vehicle near me when the car automatically brakes. The dealership is horrendous and has never correctly repaired it"

Anonymous, NV (2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 3.0-L V6 diesel)"The radio controls everything including navigation and back up camera, and windshield wipers, etc. The radio needed replacement as it would not start for several moments after the car was started. It was an intermittent problem and at first they would not fix it till they could replicate it (which they couldn't at first). Then the Navigation system showed that we were driving out in the ocean. That stayed that way and the radio was replaced under the extended warranty"

Anonymous, FL (2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 3.6-L V6)"I received an over the air update to the radio/navigation system which failed and left the system partiality working with many issues. Eventually they issued an update that I had to download and manually update via a usb drive. It took almost an hour to update but it did fix the problems they caused. I did not authorize this over the air update and they should not be touching or modifying my vehicle without my knowledge and permission. They also should be disclosing all modifications that are part of the update."
Anonymous, NY (2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 3.0-L V6 diesel)"A routine software update to the infotainment system failed to install properly, leaving the GPS navigation system inoperable for a period of months. I attempted to install the update manually, initially with no success. Eventually, after spending a number of hours on researching the problem (and learning that a number of other owners were experiencing the same issue) I was able to successfully install the update manually."

Anonymous, MA (2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 3.0-L V6 diesel)"The presets would reset every time the vehicle was turned off. The volume control and tuning would stop working after 10-15 minutes of driving. The bluetooth and USB ports wouldn't work. I brought it to the dealer and asked if there were any software updates available that could resolve these issues. I was told that there weren't any and it could be a wiring problem in the vehicle. He said that I would need to pay for an hour of labor to troubleshoot the wiring. I told him that didn't make sense to me as it appeared to be a software related issue. He then told me that I could just buy a new radio for around $800. I didn't want to spend $800 on a new radio so I left. I went a few months without bluetooth and USB ports, and I learned to adjust the radio to one channel and volume setting as soon as I started the car. When I had to bring the vehicle in because the remote start didn't work, I told them the bluetooth wasn't working to see if they would look into it at the same time. When my vehicle was ready to be picked up I asked them if they fixed the bluetooth problem and was told that a software update fixed it. They charged me for the update and I complained to Customer Care at Fiat Chrysler about the way this was handled. They asked me to email them a copy of my receipt and to detail everything that happened at the dealership. They agreed that I shouldn't have been charged for the update and sent me a refund check for the update. I was very pleased with the way that they handled my complaint and would happily buy another Chrysler product as a result."
