Overall Owner Satisfaction

Consumer Reports’ Annual Owner Satisfaction Survey can improve the chances of finding a compatible car match. How? Our survey data reveals whether, all things considered, owners would buy the same car again. The answer to that question is what determines our owner-satisfaction rating, which is a powerful piece of intel because it predicts how well a particular model will satisfy other owners.

Driving Experience

Includes acceleration and handling

What Owners Say

"Acceleration is very sluggish from standing stop through 1st gear."

MIKE H., NC (2016 Jeep Renegade)

"Even though the 1.4L turbo doesn't have great acceleration, it does have plenty of torque for highway-speed driving and hilly terrain."

Anonymous, MD (2016 Jeep Renegade)

"One of the very few suv's that come with 4 wheel drive and a manual transmission."

GARY W., MA (2016 Jeep Renegade)

"poor acceleration"

Anonymous, AZ (2016 Jeep Renegade)

"The handling is great. It's very responsive and fun to drive."

MICHAEL L., MI (2016 Jeep Renegade)

"We bought this car so it would handle the dirt roads and steep inclines on our island community. So far, it is performing very well. Sure handling on dirt, sand, uneven surfaces, potholed surfaces."

WILLIAM T., RI (2016 Jeep Renegade)

"Excellent pickup in traffic, on hills. Like the Renegade VERY much as it meets our needs re: comfort, visibility, utility. Wish the back seats were easily removable to handle our camping gear. Next time we would pay to upgrade to include built-in navigation - didn't realize how much we used it in previous vehicle :-( Expect transmission problems in the future - seems to hesitate when shifting - sometimes, not predictable, noticeable and frustrating."

John R., PA (2016 Jeep Renegade)

"Poor acceleration, but handling is good"

Clifford L., TN (2016 Jeep Renegade)

"When you come to a rolling stop you can not accelerate quickly to merge with traffic sometimes it disengages and you are in slow motion."

Anonymous, AZ (2016 Jeep Renegade)

"Excellent handling. Very fun to drive. Good braking. Acceleration is a weak point, but once you understand how to use the transmission it can be rewarding most of the time."

Anonymous, CA (2016 Jeep Renegade)

"Has a lag in acceleration of up to two seconds when you coast slightly and then use your breaks and then try to accelerate. It’s dangerous and I can’t wsit to get rid of it."

Anonymous, CA (2016 Jeep Renegade)

"The 9 speed automatic transmission can be a problem at times, especially when driving in hilly and mountainous areas. Sometimes it really doesn't know what gear it wants to be in."

Kenneth P., SC (2016 Jeep Renegade)

"Braking is mediocre, traction is limited, and loses grip in snow, causing slippage!"

Anonymous, NY (2016 Jeep Renegade)

"Very slow acceleration"

Robert J., VA (2016 Jeep Renegade)

"The 4-cylinder is fairly gutless at initial acceleration or when attempting to increase speed, often hesitates. Cruise control cannot maintain even on mild inclines."

Anonymous, NM (2016 Jeep Renegade)

"Although it drives and accelerates much better than the Patriot, the engine is very loud and acceleration is suspect when trying to hit higher speeds."

Mark H., MI (2016 Jeep Renegade)

"This Trailhawk version of the Jeep Renegade is the only vehicle in its class with true off-road capabilities. It handles snow, mud and steep, rutted off-road situations exceptionally well. Although Consumer Reports does not take these capabilities into account in its ratings, they are very important on the western slope of Colorado where weekends often find us anywhere from Moab to the White River National Forest."

Anonymous, CO (2016 Jeep Renegade)

Comfort

Includes seats, climate control, noise, and ride

What Owners Say

"Seats are supportive and functional on mid to long drives"

DAVID F., PA (2016 Jeep Renegade)

"Seats uncomfortable on long trips."

Anonymous, PA (2016 Jeep Renegade)

"Highly uncomfortable for any drive over 2 hours"

Anonymous, CA (2016 Jeep Renegade)

"Seats are ok for long distance, there is some outside noise while driving at highway speeds"

Clifford L., TN (2016 Jeep Renegade)

"Ride is adequate. Seat is uncomfortable regardless of available adjustment, feels too short with limited visibility, headrest is intrusive. Vehicle is noisy, primarily wind noise."

Anonymous, NM (2016 Jeep Renegade)

"Road noise on the high side."

J R., NY (2016 Jeep Renegade)

Value

Did you get what you wanted relative to the price you paid?

What Owners Say

"I feel the price of the Renegade sport is comparable to a small sedan. The Renegade has decent storage space because of the cargo configuration that allows for flexible vehicle even though it is small."

Anonymous, MD (2016 Jeep Renegade)

"I have had many problems with a vehicle that only has a little over 12,000 miles. It does give some nice amenities, like heated seats, push button start, back up camera, and keyless entry, although the keyless entry has also stopped working at times. Had problems with braking system, washer reservoir leaking, and thermostat failure that has lead to overheating! Not a well made vehicle!"

Anonymous, NY (2016 Jeep Renegade)

"I wanted a four wheel drive vehicle for occasional off road adventures. The Jeep Renegade fits my needs and is a good value for the price paid. Only down side, I can not flat tow the Jeep behind my motorhome."

Michael M., CA (2016 Jeep Renegade)

"An incredibly well equipped and capable vehicle. Jeep continues to surprise and delight."

Kevin M., MI (2016 Jeep Renegade)

"For 253/month it's a good deal, no doubt. Although it drives and accelerates much better than the Patriot, the engine is very loud and acceleration is suspect when trying to hit higher speeds."

Mark H., MI (2016 Jeep Renegade)
