What Owners Say
"12v battery issue from previous response"
Anonymous, GA (2022 Kia EV6 Wind Electric)""ICCU failure, replacement at no cost, service took 10 days""
Anonymous, MD (2022 Kia EV6 GT-Line Electric)"It suddenly stopped charging from L2 chargers, for no obvious reason. Turns out to be bad ICCU, a common problem with these cars. No dealership would even look at it for three weeks, and they wouldn't give me a loaner, terrible experience."
Anonymous, MI (2022 Kia EV6 GT-Line Electric)""2 or 3 days after a software update, driving home from work the system put an error alert on the screen telling me of a failure and to get it diagnosed as soon as possible. after a few miles the car shifted into "Limp home mode" and would go no faster than 25 mph. The last 1.5 miles of my drive fortunately were on neighborhood streets with a 25mph limit. After having it towed to the nearest dealer it took them a couple of weeks to get to it, diagnose and repair. It is a known issue with this model.""
Anonymous, NC (2022 Kia EV6 Wind Electric)"Already told the story in the previous box."
Anonymous A., VA (2022 Kia EV6 GT-Line Electric)""Both symptoms traced to faulty ICCU. At 8,000 miles, 12 volt battery would not retain charge; at 14,000 miles EV failed to accept Level 2 charge. Both traced to ICCU. ICCU replaced as part of recall.""
Anonymous, WA (2022 Kia EV6 Wind Electric)""After an update, their change blew out my level 2 charger. They fixed the issue and paid for my new charger after 5 months.""
Anonymous, FL (2022 Kia EV6 Wind Electric)""The 12 volt battery was not charging, beginning 2024, which kept the rest of the batteries from charging. Apparently it is a common issue. It was resolved by buying a new battery at our expense. The dealership didn't seem to know how to resolve the issue.""
Anonymous, (2022 Kia EV6 Wind Electric)"The new 2022 platform for Kia EV6 and Hyundai ionic 5 had a problem with a critical internal charge controller unit. It would fail and stop charging the 12V battery from the main high-voltage battery. This happened to us suddenly, and the car quickly depleted the 12V battery, which it requires for all non-drive systems. We were out, but in our home city, and had to have it towed to a dealership. This was a wide-spread problem with the 2022 model year for both of those cars - it was a completely new EV platform. The problem was fixed in later model years. Warrantee fully covered replacement, and the dealership very quickly replaced the charge controller with a new one the next day. However, it should have been a proactive recall, in my opinion, since it was known before it affected our car. It was not dangerous in our case, because of where we were when it failed, but could have caused an issue if we had been on a highway and did not have time to exit before the 12V batter was depleted."
Anonymous, ON (2022 Kia EV6 Wind Electric)"Would not charge on Level 2 charger. Easy factory campaign fix at Kia dealer"
Anonymous, ID (2022 Kia EV6 GT-Line Electric)"The A/C stopped blowing cold air, according to the dealership the problem is with the inverter. The car has been with the dealership for over two months, they have replaced the inverter and every component of the A/C multiple times and have not been able to solve the problem. I am pursuing buy-back options with Kia. Between this problem and earlier battery and ICCU problems, this car has been in the shop for one of every three months that I have owned it."
Anonymous, AZ (2022 Kia EV6 Wind Electric)""ICCU failure, replacement at no cost, service took 10 days""
Anonymous, MD (2022 Kia EV6 GT-Line Electric)""The problem started in early December, 2024. About half the time after I plugged the car in nothing would happen. The other half of the time, it would trip the circuit breaker. I called the closest dealer, asking to bring it to them just to plug it in as a test to see if the problem was the car or the EVSE (although the EVSE display showed everything to be fine until I plugged it into the car). He told me that his Level 2 charger was broken and I should call an electrician. Instead I used PlugShare to find a nearby public Level 2 charger. I needed to sneak into a gated apartment parking lot to reach the charger, but I successfully determined that the vehicle wouldn't charge there either. I found that I could charge using a high-speed DC charger. It was a little inconvenient, but as it turned out my wife was undergoing PT at a nearby location, so for a while it wasn't so bad. After my experience with the closer dealer, I made an appointment with one that actually has a good reputation for service. They quickly verified that the car would not charge and diagnosed the problem as a failure of the dreaded ICCU. They ordered the part, which was amazingly delivered over the weekend and scheduled a repair for later in the week. The dealer kept the car overnight and arranged for a Lyft to take me home and pick me up the next day. Since then the car has been fine.""

""Sometimes I plug into a level 2 charger and the car does not start charging. Sometimes the charging stops before the battery reaches the level I had set it to (70, 80, or 100%) Sometimes it works. Hard to know what to expect. I cannot count on the car being ready to go.""
