New for 2001, the midsized Optima is now Kias flagship. But its essentially a rebadged Hyundai Sonata with different front and rear styling. It offers a choice of Sonatas two engines, a 149-hp, 2.2-liter Four or a 170-hp, 2.5-liter V6. Models with the V6 come with an automatic transmission only. Four-cylinder models start at under $16,000 and come reasonably well equipped, though they dont offer antilock brakes.

Overall Owner Satisfaction

Consumer Reports’ Annual Owner Satisfaction Survey can improve the chances of finding a compatible car match. How? Our survey data reveals whether, all things considered, owners would buy the same car again. The answer to that question is what determines our owner-satisfaction rating, which is a powerful piece of intel because it predicts how well a particular model will satisfy other owners.

Overall Owner Satisfaction

No Detailed Data Available

A typical model has 100 or more samples for each model year. For some model years, typically those of older or less popular cars, we do not have a large enough sample size to provide results of statistical confidence.

There are several ways in which a savvy car buyer can still research how current owners feel about their car.
