    Owner Reported Trouble Spots

The Reliability score is based on our latest subscriber survey of 2025 Kia Sportage Hybrid owners. The owner comments describe problems respondents experienced with this vehicle.

    Exhaust

Muffler, pipes, catalytic converter, exhaust manifold, heat shields, leaks.

    What Owners Say

    Other/unsure

    "No spare tire"

Anonymous, (2025 Kia Sportage Hybrid EX 1.6-L 4 Cyl hybrid)

"This car 3 mos old on 1st tank of gas."

Anonymous, AZ (2025 Kia Sportage Hybrid LX 1.6-L 4 Cyl hybrid)

    "Air Flap System failure"

Anonymous A., MD (2025 Kia Sportage Hybrid EX 1.6-L 4 Cyl hybrid)

"ECM had to be replaced and it took 2 months."

Anonymous, MN (2025 Kia Sportage Hybrid SX Prestige 1.6-L 4 Cyl hybrid)

    In-car Electronics

Infotainment system (audio, GPS, phone), rear entertainment system, backup or other camera/sensors, head-up display.

    What Owners Say

    Other in-car electronics problem

"Kia split the climate and radio controls. User has to push an electronic button (hard to do when driving) and the change only lasts for 2 seconds, then reverts back to climate control. Car locks all doors all the time on its own. Electronics are very annoying and poorly thought out. A definite killer for wanting to keep this car."

Anonymous, NH (2025 Kia Sportage Hybrid LX 1.6-L 4 Cyl hybrid)

    Electrical Accessories

Cruise control, clock, warning lights, body control module, keyless entry, wiper motor or washer, tire pressure monitor, interior or exterior lights, horn, gauges, 12V power plug, USB ports, alarm or security system, remote engine start, heated or cooled seats, heated steering wheel, headlights, automatic headlights, automatic wipers, wireless charging pad.

    What Owners Say

    12V battery

"The battery discharges after a period of no use which could be two days. To remedy, there is a battery reset button on the dash. The keyless remote does not function when the battery is dead. To get into the car, the process is very difficult. Customers are not made aware of this issue when purchasing the vehicle. And the User Manual does not address it. CR's reviews of this car does not mention the situation which is very misleading. Also, Kia's Roadside Assistance service is not aware that you should not jump start a hybrid vehicle as this may damage the 12V battery. The service person they sent out, used jumper cables to start the car. The car ran for less than 3 minutes and then had to be towed to the dealership."

Anonymous, SC (2025 Kia Sportage Hybrid SX Prestige 1.6-L 4 Cyl hybrid)

    Transmission Major

Transmission rebuild or replacement, torque converter, premature clutch replacement.

    What Owners Say

    Transmission rebuild or replacement

""When car slowed down to about 30 miles an hour, it tried to shift from gasoline engine to electric engine. That was when the gear slipped to neutral. Car is in the shop. KIA said they will replace the transmission but so far it's been 3 weeks and I am still waiting for the new transmission to arrive.""

Anonymous A., TX (2025 Kia Sportage Hybrid SX Prestige 1.6-L 4 Cyl hybrid)
