With its comfortable ride, quiet interior and lavish amenities, the Lexus ES provides big luxury car feel and refinement in a manageably sized package. The ES is also quick and yet sparing with fuel. Valuing ride quality over handling, agility is not a strong suit. Consequently, the ES idoes not try to be fun to drive. However, it is one of the best riding cars in its class.

How do we know that guy did a perfect job?.. We don't. I wished you had asked me about the gas mileage. I think this car burns more gas than a pick up truck."

Jon E., KS (2008 Lexus ES 350.0 3.5-L V6)

"Noticed that the car started making noise when turning the wheel. Glad we caught it b4 issue while driving occurred. All issues were related. The total cost was $3996.08. We filed a c/o on January 2nd 2017 and to date no response. Extremely annoyed...We expected better"

Anonymous, (2008 Lexus ES 3.5-L V6)

The dealer diagnosed it a play in the rack and pinion steering gears. They said the only way to repair is to replace the entire unit. I was quoted just under $2000. It is more of an annoyance issue and not a safety issue according to the dealer. They have seen this problem in the ES model previously."

"Purchased new tires and the vibration is still present"

Anonymous, CO (2008 Lexus ES 350 3.5-L V6)

"The trim molding around the two sunroofs has mostly come off. Dealer says to correct it requires replacing the sunroofs for many bucks. Dealer says it will not leak, and hasn't so far, without the trim. The trim looks crappy and needs cutting off"

"Lose molding as a result of broken clips on passenger side bottom of door"

Anonymous, MN (2008 Lexus ES 350 3.5-L V6)

Anonymous, AL (2008 Lexus ES 350 3.5-L V6)

David A., CA (2008 Lexus ES 350 3.5-L V6)

"pitting on the hood"

Anonymous, TX (2008 Lexus ES 350 3.5-L V6)

"the paint peels and chips with the slightest infractions such as road sand or touching a snow bank. Very poor paint job on this model year car. Also the dual heating system only works on the drivers side"

Anonymous, VT (2008 Lexus ES 350 3.5-L V6)

"This may be unfair but the front looks like it has been through a storm. It probably has 50 or more nicks from rocks or whatever hitting it. Have never had a car that showed so much front paint damage"

Robert T., MD (2008 Lexus ES 350 3.5-L V6)

"lots of rail dust spots. May have to do a complete new paint job"

Anonymous, FL (2008 Lexus ES 350 3.5-L V6)

The paint job was of poor quality, chips and peels off very easily and is fading to a dull finish. The heating system on the passenger side does not work at all."

Grove W., CA (2008 Lexus ES 350 3.5-L V6)

Pep Boys told us the system was empty from a leak & replaced Schrader valves & charged system. 2 weeks later same issue, went back was told same repair necessary. Pep Boys honored warranty and did job 2nd time. 2 weeks later hot again. This time Pep Boys says its under the dashboard and will cost $1700 less the $350 already spent. We will see if its fixed now..."

"Only called on one side"

Anonymous, FL (2008 Lexus ES 3.5-L V6)
Blower (fan) motor

"The part of the blower that directs heat to the passenger side of the car is not working. The passenger side only gets cold air no matter what the setting is. Fine in the summer but miserable in the winter. It works out if there is only a driver in the car. To get at the part to fix it requires taking out the entire dash. The part itself is an easy fix and not expensive, but the repair costs are really high due to the difficulty accessing it. We have put off fixing it due to the cost. From what we understand, this is a common problem in these cars."

Hillary B., TN (2008 Lexus ES 350.0 3.5-L V6)

"Fan stopped working correctly. Needed replaced"

Ed-Care P., PA (2008 Lexus ES 350.0 3.5-L V6)

"heating system only works on drivers side. For a Lexus, you do not expect this to occur"

Anonymous, VT (2008 Lexus ES 350 3.5-L V6)

"The heating system on the passenger side does not work. It appears that an entire new computer control system needs to be replaced for more than a $1000."

"control of Passenger side heating system stopped working"

"Navigation stopped working."

Dan C., TX (2008 Lexus ES 350.0 3.5-L V6)

"system lost location i.d. recently, no gps; dealership 'reset' it, no charge, currently doubtful of reliability; have owned 4 es350s with nav system since 2006, first time problem with it; 3 were bought new, this one used in december 2016 after collision totaled my 2011 es350"

John G., NY (2008 Lexus ES 350 3.5-L V6)

"GPS map shows me nowhere near my actual position, regardless of how many times I reset it. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Due to age of car and complexity of system I have no desire to make it work correctly by paying to get it fixed as I'm assuming it would be cost prohibitive"

This year, the dealer discovered more oil leak at another location which will cost me additional $5,000 more to fix. Therefore, I told the dealer not to do the repair until a more serious oil leak develop. I simply will not know how many engine gaskets I have to replace. The dealer told me they can only replace the gaskets that is leaking. There area a lot of gaskets ! A STUCK OPEN ACCELERATOR PEDAL MAY RESULT IN VERY HIGH VEHICLE SPEEDS AND MAKE IT DIFFICULT TO STOP THE VEHICLE, WHICH COULD CAUSE A CRASH, SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH.
Summary:
TOYOTA IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2004-2010 PASSENGER VEHICLES. THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL CAN GET STUCK IN THE WIDE OPEN POSITION DUE TO ITS BEING TRAPPED BY AN UNSECURED OR INCOMPATIBLE DRIVER'S FLOOR MAT.
What should you do:
TOYOTA FILED AN AMENDED DEFECT REPORT ON NOVEMBER 25, 2009, STATING THAT DEALERS WILL MODIFY THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND, ON CERTAIN VEHICLES, ALTER THE SHAPE OF THE FLOOR SURFACE UNDER THE PEDAL. THESE CHANGES ADDRESS THE RISK OF PEDAL ENTRAPMENT DUE TO INTERFERENCE WITH THE FLOOR MAT. REDESIGNED ACCELERATOR PEDALS WILL BECOME AVAILABLE BEGINNING IN APRIL 2010 AND DEALERS WILL REPLACE ANY MODIFIED PEDAL WITH THE NEW PEDAL IF DESIRED. ALSO, DEALERS WILL REPLACE ANY GENUINE TOYOTA OR LEXUS ALL-WEATHER FLOOR MATS WITH REDESIGNED ALL-WEATHER MATS, OR REPURCHASE THE PREVIOUS MATS FROM OWNERS WHO DO NOT WANT THE NEW ONES. ADDITIONALLY, SOFTWARE MODIFICATIONS WILL BE INSTALLED ON CAMRY, AVALON AND LEXUS ES 350, IS 350 AND IS 250 MODELS THAT WILL ENSURE THAT THE BRAKE OVERRIDES THE ACCELERATOR IN THE EVENT BOTH BRAKE AND ACCELERATOR PEDALS ARE APPLIED. TOYOTA WILL BEGIN MAILING LETTERS TO OWNERS ON DECEMBER 31, 2009. OWNERS MAY CONTACT TOYOTA AT 1-800-331-4331, LEXUS AT 1-800-255-3987.

What should you do:
TOYOTA WILL NOTIFY OWNERS OF ALL 2007 AND 2008 LEXUS ES350 AND TOYOTA CAMRY VEHICLES ABOUT THE RECALL EVEN THOUGH NOT ALL OF THESE OWNERS WILL HAVE PURCHASED THE ALL WEATHER MATS.
