Reliability indicates how models have performed in the past, providing the basis for predicting how the vehicles will hold up in the year ahead. These charts provide the most comprehensive reliability information available to consumers. Based on information received from our latest subscriber survey for about 329,000 vehicles, our reliability history charts give you a rundown on how 2000 through 2020 vehicles are holding up in 17 potential trouble spots, ranging from the engine, transmission, and brakes to power equipment and the electrical system. NA indicates that we did not receive a large enough sample size to provide data for a specific year. An X indicates that the vehicle was not manufactured for a specific year.

Owner Reported Trouble Spots

The Reliability score is based on our latest subscriber survey of 2007 Lexus LS owners. The owner comments describe problems respondents experienced with this vehicle.

Suspension

Shocks or struts, ball joints, tie rods, wheel bearings, alignment, steering linkage (includes rack and pinion), power steering (pumps and hoses, leaks), wheel balance, springs or torsion bars, bushings, electronic or air suspension.

What Owners Say

Ball joints

"$2000 replacement"

Anonymous, NY (2007 Lexus LS 460)

"Replaced right front control arms, then those on both sides without fixing knocking sound. Then replaced mounts on trailing arms, which transiently fixed problem -- it has recurred. $6000+ so far!"

Robert N., NC (2007 Lexus LS 460 4.6-L V8)
Bushings

"Bushings needed to be replaced, but they are part of the upper control arms. The entire control arm had to be replaced. Repairs for all of the control arms were around $3000"

Anonymous, KS (2007 Lexus LS 460L 4.6-L V8)

"Original bushings made of rubber dis not hold up and had to be replaced with neoprene. My cost, not a recall"

Willard S., WA (2007 Lexus LS 460L 4.6-L V8)

"Bushings worn out"

Anonymous, TX (2007 Lexus LS 460L 4.6-L V8)

"The 2007 Lexus LS460 has 6 front suspension arms with bushings that can NOT be replaced. So when the bushings wear out - you must replace all 6 suspension arms. BTW - the Lexus dealer gets $900 EACH - or $5400 just for parts. Our trusted foreign car mechanic purchased the parts elsewhere - but the bill was still $3500. Ouch"

Chris S., CA (2007 Lexus LS 460.0 4.6-L V8)

"THE CONTROL ARM BUSHINGS WERE WEARING OUT. THE COST TO REPLACE THEM WAS $3600! I GRIPED AND THEY REDUCED IT TO $2600. I DECIDED TO REPLACE THE CAR"

Bill C., FL (2007 Lexus LS 460 4.6-L V8)

"Said to be cracked and in need of replacement"

Anonymous, CA (2007 Lexus LS 460 4.6-L V8)

"Known problem with this car, bushings last 80k km. Took pictures during tire change summer 2014, all bushings on front and some on rear are coming out of bushing and cause for vibration. Not alignement or wheel balance since redone twice and 4 new"

Luc G., ON (2007 Lexus LS 460L 4.6-L V8)

"The dealership replaced all 8 control arms in the front suspension for about $4700.00. The control arms don't wear out, but the bushings do and they don't sell the bushings without the control arms as an official Lexus part."

Edward K., CA (2007 Lexus LS 460.0 4.6-L V8)
Electronic or air suspension

"Control arm replacement, a second time"

Stuart H., GA (2007 Lexus LS 460 4.6-L V8)

"Problem began around 70000 miles and wasn't precipitated by any particular event. Rattling sound was heard on right hand side of cabin when going over bumps in road at low speeds. Rattling occurred every time car was driven. After much self diagnosing (driving slowly over 4" board and various other scenarios) over a 2 month period and listening with a special diagnosing earpiece that detects vibrations, it was determined to be the right front air suspension canister. Upon opening cap on top of canister in engine bay, there was oil-indicative of part failure. OEM part was ordered and replaced at home by homeowner. Left air suspension part failed approximately 8 months later and because of experience with first failure, the correct diagnosis was quickly made. Again, OEM part was ordered and replaced at home by home owner."

Anonymous, (2007 Lexus LS 460L 4.6-L V8)
Shocks or struts

"replaced rocker arms n needs struts"

Anonymous, FL (2007 Lexus LS 460 4.6-L V8)

"I had to replace the front struts (air suspension system) they were completely blown. The car became unsafe to drive. I am not sure when they blew but I discovered it after 80000 miles"

Anonymous, CA (2007 Lexus LS 460L 4.6-L V8)

"A dull thumping sound started in 2014. Dealer did a ride along diagnosis. Personal mechanic also did a ride along diagnosis. Dealer quoted $8,400.00 to replace all struts (not necessary). Personal mechanic replaced single defective strut for $1,50"

David S., CA (2007 Lexus LS 460L 4.6-L V8)
Springs or torsion bars

"All problems in this area were recalls"

Anonymous, GA (2007 Lexus LS 460 4.6-L V8)

"cracks in upper and lower control arms and torn rubber bushings. First found at 95000 miles"

Anonymous, CA (2007 Lexus LS 460L 4.6-L V8)
