Reliability indicates how models have performed in the past, providing the basis for predicting how the vehicles will hold up in the year ahead. These charts provide the most comprehensive reliability information available to consumers. Based on information received from our latest subscriber survey for about 329,000 vehicles, our reliability history charts give you a rundown on how 2000 through 2020 vehicles are holding up in 17 potential trouble spots, ranging from the engine, transmission, and brakes to power equipment and the electrical system. NA indicates that we did not receive a large enough sample size to provide data for a specific year. An X indicates that the vehicle was not manufactured for a specific year.

Owner Reported Trouble Spots

The Reliability score is based on our latest subscriber survey of 2011 Lexus RX owners. The owner comments describe problems respondents experienced with this vehicle.

Suspension

Shocks or struts, ball joints, tie rods, wheel bearings, alignment, steering linkage (includes rack and pinion), power steering (pumps and hoses, leaks), wheel balance, springs or torsion bars, bushings, electronic or air suspension.

What Owners Say

Alignment

"Had to re-align after repairs"

Jeffrey C., AL (2011 Lexus RX 350.0 3.5-L V6)
Ball joints

"I purchased this RX 350 used from a Toyota dealer. The first time I had the oil changed I was told by the Lexus dealer there was a problem with the ball joints and that the previous owner had chosen not to fix the problem. I was disappointed a Toyota dealership would sell the problem with this known expensive problem even though the car was not certified."

Anonymous, CA (2011 Lexus RX 350.0 3.5-L V6)
Bushings

"After replacing struts and rear shocks and no difference in the rough and noisy suspension Lexus tells me i should replace suspension bushings."

Stephane B., QC (2011 Lexus RX 350.0 3.5-L V6)
Electronic or air suspension

"when I made a right turn, I heard my suspension make noises. It only happened in the winter. Dealer couldn't identify the problem in Spring"

Anonymous, CT (2011 Lexus RX 350 3.5-L V6)
Power steering leaks

"Within the past 6 months I've had to replace a major portion of the Power Steering system $1400 and then $3400 on various steering fluid leak related issues with differential, pinion and trans fluids. There are more pending bushing repairs coming that will be another $2000 or more. Very disapointing"

"Two shocks are beginning to leak and showing signs of wear. Will have to replace all four shock absorbers"

Anonymous, CO (2011 Lexus RX 350 3.5-L V6)

"Struts/shocks are too stiff for this type of vehicle. The suspension seems set up for off road use or for towing which is not the purpose for which we purchased the vehicle. Contemporary pickups ride better that does this 2011 RX350"

Anonymous, IN (2011 Lexus RX 350.0 3.5-L V6)

"GPS software updates are ridiculously expensive and it's no longer possible to purchase the disc that will allow you to update it yourself. We do not want to have to revert to using our smartphones, but we often do. Not only are they up to date, but they provide much more information. I believe that later models allow you to link your phone to the system, but we don't have that option (if we do, we don't know about it or how to use it)."

Anonymous, AL (2011 Lexus RX 350.0 3.5-L V6)
Software update fixes

"The GPS system has not been updated since we purchased the car. Many addresses (including our own home address) are not available, resulting in our having to use our smart phones to get addresses. The phone screen is smaller andless easier to see while driving, but it does provide more information as well as speed limit info. The cost to update the software is ridiculously expensive and we are no longer able to purchase the disc online that has the update on it. That is is you can figure out how to install it! Not friendly!"
