Exhaust

Muffler, pipes, catalytic converter, exhaust manifold, heat shields, leaks.

What Owners Say

Other/unsure

"I had a problem with the dash cam that drained the car battery. I had to disconnect the dash cam when the car is parked."

Anonymous, BC (2021 Mazda CX-30 Turbo 2.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)

"lower arm bushings cracked"

Anonymous, FL (2021 Mazda CX-30 Premium 2.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)

In-car Electronics

Infotainment system (audio, GPS, phone), rear entertainment system, backup or other camera/sensors, head-up display.

What Owners Say

Apple CarPlay

""Basically when I first got the car this problem creeped up six months later. The car was under a warranty because I bought it used. When I hit any kind of bump in the road, the head unit says the USB is not responding so for the rest of my trip I cannot use CarPlay. I have to Bluetooth my music. I went to the dealership to have them try to figure it out. I went back multiple times multiple software updates Car being reset. Basically the warranty expired and they wouldnt replace the head unit or the USB ports to fix the issue. The warranty in order for them to fix it. They have to be able to diagnose the issue and because they cannot figure out what was causing the problem they would not replace it. Of course if I offered Cash, they had no problem because Im paying them to do a job. Its very frustrating because Im still dealing with this issue today and now I dont even use CarPlay with this car because I cant trust it to charge my phone or work correctly. The only thing their tech could figure out is its a compatibility issue telling me that the car was designed for lightning cords. I have a iPhone 15 pro. So has USB-C and theyre saying that its causing a problem. My girlfriend has a iPhone 14 so we tried with her phone that they recommended and it still has the same problem. I even talked to Mazda Corporate down in Los Angeles they pretty much did not care to help after playing phone tag with my case manager for two weeks. I might get a Mazda in the future, but at least not this one that I have. Maybe I should just stick to Honda or Toyota. When I still have the warranty, I kept asking them can you just replace the head unit or the USB ports and that would fix the issue. If it did not fix the issue, then there were clearly be something else going on. And I kept arguing with them if its a compatibility issue. Why would it randomly disconnect like that? I tried with my brothers pixel phone. I even bought a brand new official Apple cable just to make sure I wasnt having some weird problem with the cables. Try like six different brands. It is very frustrating that Im just left holding the bag and it never got fixed.""

External music device interface (e.g., smart phone, MP3 player)

"The infotainment system is problematic. Lack of touch screen and clunky controls"

Anonymous, MD (2021 Mazda CX-30 Select 2.5-L 4 Cyl)

Climate System

AC compressor, blower (fan) motor, condenser, evaporator, heater system, automatic climate system, electrical failure, refrigerant leakage.

What Owners Say

Automatic climate control

"The system once it comes to heat blows cool air on the floor. This is not the design on the system it should blow cool air out the front air vents according to the manual. In the winter it makes it very hard to drive any distance. If you take the system off the 'auto' mode then you can force warmer air to the floor but even the it isn't perfect"

Anonymous, AB (2021 Mazda CX-30 Premium 2.5-L 4 Cyl)
Heater system

"This is connect to the heating system and auto function - cool air blows on the floor when it shouldn't"

Anonymous, AB (2021 Mazda CX-30 Premium 2.5-L 4 Cyl)

Drive System

Driveshaft or axle, CV joint, differential, transfer case, four-wheel-drive/all-wheel-drive components, driveline vibration, electrical failure, traction control, electronic stability control.

What Owners Say

Differential

"I was hearing a clunking noise coming from the rear that progressed to the point of being alarming. Rear differential had gone out and required replacement under drivetrain warranty."

Anonymous A., WA (2021 Mazda CX-30 Turbo 2.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)
Driveshaft or axle

""Due to failed CV joint on the front axle the whole axle had to be replaced by the dealership. At first it was misdiagnosed and I replaced wrong side axle due to misdiagnosed side. I paid for repair and part replacement but after the fact it did not fix the problem I came back to the dealership and they replaced the other side which was making noise. I got full reimbursement of the cost of the first axle replacement and diagnostic fee. This did not cost me anything in the end but it's just disappointing that the car under 36,000 mi had such an issue.""

Suspension/Steering

Shocks or struts, ball joints, tie rods, wheel bearings, alignment, steering linkage (includes rack and pinion), power steering (pumps and hoses, leaks), wheel balance, springs or torsion bars, bushings, electronic or air suspension.

What Owners Say

Other steering/suspension problem

"In several months after birth just saying the new car we experienced some noises during turning and that was diagnosed by the dealership as defective strut mounds which were replaced and problem was solved and it was covered by warranty."

Anonymous, PA (2021 Mazda CX-30 Preferred 2.5-L 4 Cyl)
Shocks or struts

"Annoying squeaky noise emanating from front strut or shock tower when braking. Problem worsened with hot weather. Dealer said it was probably the sunroof cover. Not even close. Another issue not easy to fix. I can see other owners in the US and Canada discussing it online. Definitely coming from under the vehicle not the interior or sunroof. Lousy service director at dealership. Issues unresolved. Selling car. No more Mazdas. They wont fix what they know is wrong."

Anonymous, IL (2021 Mazda CX-30 Turbo 2.5-L 4 Cyl turbo)

Engine Major

Engine rebuild or replacement, cylinder head, head gasket, turbocharger or supercharger, timing chain or belt.

What Owners Say

Other major engine problem

"Car has faulty valve seal issue causing excessive oil consumption. At first oil change I mentioned to the service director that the car was using a lot of oil. I had to add three quarts in the first 6000 miles. He said it was because I wasnt changing the oil frequently enough even though the owners manual recommended every 10000 miles for the turbo model with synthetic oil. Turns out there was a class action law suit filed because of the problem and dealers would only replace the faulty seals if the car showed excessive oil use after that was proven b6 them changing the oil and waiting for a few months even though I informed them of the problem and there were apparently thousands of other cars with the same problem. No recall or tsb. The last Mazda I will ever buy."
