    2025 Model Redesign Year
The five-passenger CX-70 uses a rear-drive-based platform but has standard all-wheel drive. The standard 280-hp, 3.3-liter turbo inline-six incorporates a mild-hybrid setup. A more potent 340-hp Turbo S and a plug-in hybrid with an EPA-estimated electric range of 30 miles are available. The eight-speed automatic transmission is smooth and responsive. We got 24 mpg overall with the CX-90 powered by the standard engine. We found the SUV has athletic handling, confident steering, and reassuring brake pedal feel.
While firm and controlled, the ride is too stiff due to the 21-inch tires. The front seats are supportive, the second row is roomy and comfortable, and the cargo room is immense. Some of the controls are quirky, including the unintuitive gear selector.

    2025-Present

    2025 Model Redesign Year
Think of the new CX-70 as the five-passenger version of the CX-90. Like the CX-90, it uses a rear-wheel-drive-based platform with standard all-wheel drive. The standard engine is a potent 280-hp, 3.3-liter turbocharged inline-six that incorporates a mild hybrid setup. There's also a plug-in hybrid model with an EV range that's likely to be around 25 miles. Both are paired with an eight-speed automatic. We got 24 mpg overall with the CX-90 powered by the standard engine.
It's reasonable to expect athletic handling, confident steering and brake pedal feel and a firm ride from the CX-70. Judging by the CX-90, the front seats are supportive, the second row is roomy and comfortable. Fit and finish, particularly on upper trim levels, is swanky. Some of the controls, including the gear selector are unintuitive.
