2022 Model Redesign Year
Based on the company's Skyactiv-Vehicle Architecture, the battery-powered MX-30 is 2023 is its final year. the vanguard for a series of variations and electrified models to follow. Initially, the MX-30 is powered by a 143-horsepower electric motor driving the front wheels and teamed with a 35.5-kWh lithium-ion battery. With such a small battery, range is modest--about 100 miles. That would be competitive a decade ago but not in today's EV market. A plug-in hybrid with a rotary engine will come as well.
The most visually distinct elements are the rear doors that are rear-hinged like in a BMW i3, sharply raked rear pillar, and contrasting roof. Sales is only in California. The MX-30 comes with a suite of standard active safety features. 2023 is its final year.
