The Mercedes-Benz C230 is a taut and sporty car with quick, responsive steering and a supple ride. It has comfortable seats and a well-built interior. However, the rear is a bit cramped and some controls are confusing. The C230 comes with a firm suspension, a lowered ride height and summer tires that work poorly in wintry conditions.

Overall Owner Satisfaction

Consumer Reports’ Annual Owner Satisfaction Survey can improve the chances of finding a compatible car match. How? Our survey data reveals whether, all things considered, owners would buy the same car again. The answer to that question is what determines our owner-satisfaction rating, which is a powerful piece of intel because it predicts how well a particular model will satisfy other owners.

Value

Did you get what you wanted relative to the price you paid?

What Owners Say

"We've had a few minor but annoying issues with this car, and one major issue. The engine idler cam shaft was not properly hardened in the factory per their requirement which made it wear out early (51000 miles). The dealership reluctantly agreed to pay for half the cost which was $5400. This was their fault, but they refused to cover the whole cost."

Anonymous, WA (2007 Mercedes-Benz C-Class)

"When I bought my 2007 C280 M-B with M272 engine, it was known (but not revealed by M-B) that there could be a defect in the balance shaft sprocket which would not occur until the engine was out of warranty. This happened to me. After costly repair and great inconvenience, I filed a claim with a class action lawsuit and recovered about 20% of my expenses."
