The Mercedes-Benz E350 is a delight to drive. It feels reassuringly solid and offers an inviting blend of luxury and practicality. The E350 provides excellent ride comfort and agile handling, along with a beautifully constructed and roomy interior featuring supportive seats as well as good outward visibility. Still though, we found some controls to be overly complicated.

Reliability indicates how models have performed in the past, providing the basis for predicting how the vehicles will hold up in the year ahead. These charts provide the most comprehensive reliability information available to consumers. Based on information received from our latest subscriber survey for over 300,000 vehicles, our reliability history charts give you a rundown on how 2000 through 2021 vehicles are holding up in 17 potential trouble spots, ranging from the engine, transmission, and brakes to power equipment and the electrical system. NA indicates that we did not receive a large enough sample size to provide data for a specific year. An X indicates that the vehicle was not manufactured for a specific year.

    Owner Reported Trouble Spots

The Reliability score is based on our latest subscriber survey of 2008 Mercedes-Benz E-Class owners. The owner comments describe problems respondents experienced with this vehicle.

    Suspension

Shocks or struts, ball joints, tie rods, wheel bearings, alignment, steering linkage (includes rack and pinion), power steering (pumps and hoses, leaks), wheel balance, springs or torsion bars, bushings, electronic or air suspension.

    What Owners Say

    Alignment

"My front tires wore unevenly even after all wheel alignment. Dealer offered no explanation, but problem went away after replacing steering control arms. I later found on Google that 2007-2010 E359 models have an axle sag problem over time and mileage - engine weight makes suspension sag, so tire wear problems with perfect wheel alignment. Bolt kit or new suspension is the fix."

    James S., IL (2008 Mercedes-Benz E-Class E350 3.5-L V6)

"Alignment has too much camber and is at end of adjustment. Mercedes has supplied a kit ( longer bolts) to add more adjustment but still cannot set camber within specs. Left front tire needs to be replaced twice as often as rest of tires. Obviously a design flaw that Mercedes will not admit to"

    B D., ON (2008 Mercedes-Benz E-Class E350 3.5-L V6)
    Electronic or air suspension

    "the air suspension failed"

    Anonymous, MA (2008 Mercedes-Benz E-Class E350 3.5-L V6)

"It developed a slow air leak"

    Anonymous, MA (2008 Mercedes-Benz E-Class E350 3.5-L V6)

"One of the rear air shocks developed a hole. I decided to replace both rear shocks with coil springs, but after a few months I was not satisfied with them so I returned to the air shocks"

    Richard W., LA (2008 Mercedes-Benz E-Class E350 3.5-L V6)
    Power steering leaks

"The leaks are not visible until major repairs are needed. Not sure if it is the car or the dealer"

    Deborah F., CA (2008 Mercedes-Benz E-Class E350)
    Shocks or struts

"Kept hearing noise but couldn't pinpoint it at first. Finally diagnosed and had shocks replaced. Was surprised that shocks would go bad with such low mileage."

    Anonymous, FL (2008 Mercedes-Benz E-Class E350 3.5-L V6)

"First struts failed. Replacement MERCEDES-BENZ struts ride very roughly"

    Anonymous, PA (2008 Mercedes-Benz E-Class E350 3.5-L V6)

    Anonymous, PA (2008 Mercedes-Benz E-Class E350 3.5-L V6)
    Tire wear is uneven
