The redesigned GLE SUV promises a range of convenience, performance, and safety technologies, along with all-new engines. A 255-hp, 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine is standard, and the next step up is a 362-hp, 3.0-liter turbocharged six-cylinder engine with a 48-volt mild hybrid. Nine-speed automatic transmission is paired with both engines. A longer wheelbase adds second-row head and legroom, according to Mercedes. A two-seat third row is available. The GLE will use the Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) infotainment system, distinguished by its ability to recognize natural language and adapt to the user. Advanced driver assists include adaptive cruise control informed by live traffic data and forward cross-traffic alert to aid when making turns. The 2020 GLE goes on sale in spring 2019.
