2015

    Mercedes-Benz GLK-Class

The updated GLK is a small but posh SUV that's quick and agile. After a freshening for 2013, the GLK scored much higher than the original version we tested in 2009. It also got a revised interior that felt more substantial and luxurious. Its tidy size, responsive handling, and good visibility make it easy to maneuver and handy in the city. The GLK feels solid on the highway, rides well for the most part and is quiet.

    Owner Reported Trouble Spots

The Reliability score is based on our latest subscriber survey of 2015 Mercedes-Benz GLK-Class owners. The owner comments describe problems respondents experienced with this vehicle.

    Fuel System

Check engine light, sensors (includes O2 or oxygen sensor), emission control devices (includes EGR), engine computer, engine computer, fuel cap, fuel gauge/sender, fuel injection system, fuel pump, fuel leaks, stalling or hesitation.

    What Owners Say

    Emission control devices (includes EGR)

    "catalytic converter replaced"

    R F., PA (2015 Mercedes-Benz GLK-Class GLK250 2.1-L 4 Cyl diesel)

"In the first year, this vehicle went back to shop repeatedly with engine warning light. Was told it was emissions system. At some point, the soot filter was finally replaced and it's been fine"

    Curtis M., FL (2015 Mercedes-Benz GLK-Class GLK250 2.1-L 4 Cyl diesel)

"The NOx sensors were sending erroneous indications to the computer, threatening to shut the vehicle down."

    James S., ON (2015 Mercedes-Benz GLK-Class GLK250 2.1-L 4 Cyl diesel)

"DPF failed. Was under warranty, but out of pocket would have been more than $3,000."

    David R., WA (2015 Mercedes-Benz GLK-Class GLK250 2.1-L 4 Cyl diesel)

"The GLK-250 is a diesel engine and uses Urea (ADBLUE) injection to reduce nitrogen dioxide - either a sensor or an issue with the EGR caused the system to inject too much Urea into the system. This resulted in a noticeable smell of urea from the tailpipe of the vehicle. According to the maintenance manager at the MERCEDES-BENZ Dealer - this could result, over time, in causing the catalytic converter to fail. It required a replacement of the EGR and the sensors connected with the urea process. Luckily the vehicle was still under warranty. It took about 3 months for the dealer to get the parts in and schedule the repair. It seemed to be a common occurrence with the year model and there was a demand for the replacement of the parts. The vehicle did not stop or run rough while we waited for the part. The dealer promised to replace the catalytic converter if there was any demonstrable damage to it while we waited for the part."

    Anonymous, KY (2015 Mercedes-Benz GLK-Class GLK250 2.1-L 4 Cyl diesel)

"The diesel scrubber sensor has had consistent problems since purchase."

    James S., ON (2015 Mercedes-Benz GLK-Class GLK250 2.1-L 4 Cyl diesel)

"Diesel soot sensor failed. Under warranty, but out of pocket cost would have been quite high. This is the second major emissions system failure in 12 months."

    David R., WA (2015 Mercedes-Benz GLK-Class GLK250 2.1-L 4 Cyl diesel)

"Issue with the sensor detecting the amount of Ammonia available for the diesel engine"

    Mark H., CA (2015 Mercedes-Benz GLK-Class GLK350 3.5-L V6)
