Overall Owner Satisfaction

Consumer Reports’ Annual Owner Satisfaction Survey can improve the chances of finding a compatible car match. How? Our survey data reveals whether, all things considered, owners would buy the same car again. The answer to that question is what determines our owner-satisfaction rating, which is a powerful piece of intel because it predicts how well a particular model will satisfy other owners.

Driving Experience

Includes acceleration and handling

What Owners Say

"surprising wonderful for a V-6"

Anonymous, FL (2018 Mercedes-Benz S-Class)

"Powerful but not very smooth transmission. The econo-mode which shuts engine off when at a stop light is very annoying and the car "lurches" when the engine starts back up again."

Anonymous, CA (2018 Mercedes-Benz S-Class)

"Engine has very little braking power. Transmission appears to almost go into neutral when deacclerating."

Anonymous, CA (2018 Mercedes-Benz S-Class)

"amazing acceleration and excellent handling"

Olivier F., MD (2018 Mercedes-Benz S-Class)

"Quickness and steering. It drives like a sports car."

Anonymous, CA (2018 Mercedes-Benz S-Class)

"This car is like a race car but prevents me from making mistakes and protects me from other cars or obstacles"

Anonymous, CA (2018 Mercedes-Benz S-Class)

"This car being an S63 AMG, it is powerful and I love that, BUT the transmission is jerky at lower speeds, like accerating from a stop and coming to stop. MB can’t do anything about it, the engine is just too powerful they say. I’ve adjusted to the jerky transmission by always running it in SPORT mode, which helps to reduce the jerkiness. But still unhappy that MB couldn’t make a smoother operating transmission to handle the big AMG engine."

Jon D., CA (2018 Mercedes-Benz S-Class)

"Very responsive to acceleration. Plenty of power. Great handling and switching to Sport Mode makes it almost like a sports car."

James R., MD (2018 Mercedes-Benz S-Class)

Comfort

Includes seats, climate control, noise, and ride

What Owners Say

"Extremely good ride with 19 inch wheels. Seats have plenty of adjustment, and the climate control system is very good."

Nikhil V., KY (2018 Mercedes-Benz S-Class)

"The trunk space has become smaller with each new model S class. This 2018 cannot hold one set of golf clubs. The S class is a touring car and should have larger trunk space."

David S., ON (2018 Mercedes-Benz S-Class)

"The best riding highway car EVER"

Anonymous, FL (2018 Mercedes-Benz S-Class)

"the best ride I could have"

Anonymous, FL (2018 Mercedes-Benz S-Class)

"Extremely quiet and comfortable. Very smooth ride."

James R., MD (2018 Mercedes-Benz S-Class)

"The car has much more wind noise than it should have. The rear seats are VERY comfortable."

Anonymous, CA (2018 Mercedes-Benz S-Class)

"The car is pretty solid, but have been disappointed with some rattles in the dash and passenger side of the car. I’ve taken into MB to get repaired now 3 times and some rattles are gone, but not all. I’ll be taken in again soon to see if they can eradicate the final rattle."

Jon D., CA (2018 Mercedes-Benz S-Class)
