The Nissan Altima is among our better rated family sedans. The 2.5-liter, four-cylinder delivers better performance than some six-cylinder engines and an impressive 25 mpg overall. The 3.5-liter V6 is very powerful yet delivers 23 mpg overall. The 2.5 S has good handling and absorbs bumps better than the 3.5 SE, which is stiff and jittery, but corners better. Interior quality is very good, but rear-seat room is a bit tight.

Replaced battery 4 times in 3 years, once under warranty. in 2017 I got stuck at a shop when I came back and the car would not start. Initially the dealership treated the problem as if it was my issue as they couldn't find the problem. in the end, they replaced the computerized system. It made the Nissan unreliable."

I didn’t do anything about it then because I thought my husband scratched it with broom, snow shovel etc. We recently took vehicle to body shop to see about repainting and were told that the car that I bought brand new-and paid close to $30,000 had been repainted. Overspray in the trunk and a poor quality clear coat, which faded right down to base medal were discussed. "original transmission had a leak and failed repair so used transmission installed at 134000 miles in 2016. i have changed transmission fluid at 160000 miles, and recently at 217000 miles. i noticed slight occasional slipping with cold start at lower speeds. it had grown worse as the car needed more time to warm up before it would stop slipping. so 217000 miles transmission change was after i noticed slipping. it had not got any better with that fluid change. car is still operable. i would say after several minutes of driving it can be normal and accelerate fine. after most of a day not driving it i start it up, it may need several minutes of very light driving before i can try and accelerate onto a highway for example. car now is at 220000+ miles and transmission is work well enough to keep driving it. reverse works fine. its just cold starts that i need either a couple minutes of stationary warm up or several minutes of casual/light driving before i can accelerate moderately."
