The long-running Pathfinder has transformed from a truck-based workhorse into a softer, gentler, car-based SUV with three rows and seven seats. An enlarged interior and easier access moves it closer to a family-friendly minivan substitute, which could be a good thing.

Overall Owner Satisfaction

Consumer Reports’ Annual Owner Satisfaction Survey can improve the chances of finding a compatible car match. How? Our survey data reveals whether, all things considered, owners would buy the same car again. The answer to that question is what determines our owner-satisfaction rating, which is a powerful piece of intel because it predicts how well a particular model will satisfy other owners.

Driving Experience

Includes acceleration and handling

What Owners Say

"If it is warm, car handles just fine. If it is below 20 degrees or so, the CVT struggles and jerks and jitters until the vehicle warms up for 10+ minutes of operation."

Anonymous, SD (2017 Nissan Pathfinder)

"The CVT transmission along with the 6 cylinder engine give very nice acceleration."

Anonymous, NY (2017 Nissan Pathfinder)

"acceleration is excellent but I find it has a bit too much body roll on curvy roads"

Anonymous, KY (2017 Nissan Pathfinder)

"Quickly passes and merges."

Anonymous, IN (2017 Nissan Pathfinder)

"Acceleration is good, but laggy until higher RPMs. All wheel drive should be a standard feature."

Anonymous, FL (2017 Nissan Pathfinder)

"before I had this Nissan, I had a Infiniti....which is made by the same company. This Nissan Pathfinder drives every bit as good if not better than my Infiniti did. It handles great on the road, and the acceleration is better. It handles well in traffic, and lets you know when you're too close, or something is beside you."

Jan M., CA (2017 Nissan Pathfinder)

"Auto braking with cruise control"

Anonymous, MS (2017 Nissan Pathfinder)

"Very snappy acceleration, I do not care for the CVT transmission as it seems to "hunt" for a gear however it is very smooth and linear."

Anonymous, AL (2017 Nissan Pathfinder)

"Has excellent acceleration and is easy to drive on city streets and on the highway. Easy to park or pull into the garage with the 360 degree cameras and object warning systems."

Anonymous, NC (2017 Nissan Pathfinder)

Anonymous, IL (2017 Nissan Pathfinder)

"Seats are very hard and uncomfortable for a one or more hour ride."

Debra W., PA (2017 Nissan Pathfinder)

"Passenger seat back reclines nut sear doesn’t. Second row seats would be more comfortable if they recline."

Anonymous, TN (2017 Nissan Pathfinder)

"The passenger front seat is uncomfortable when driving long distances. The second row of seats are not comfortable."

Anonymous, TX (2017 Nissan Pathfinder)

"Rear seat legroom cramped as feet do not fit under front seats"

Robert L., FL (2017 Nissan Pathfinder)

"Seats are comfortable, road noise is very good and we are very happy with the overall ride of the vehicle."

Anonymous, SK (2017 Nissan Pathfinder)

"I purchased the Pathfinder to replace a 2008 Pathfinder. I is my primary mode of transportation and it is also used to pull a 5X10 enclosed trailer since I’m a touring musician. It is outstanding tow vehicle. It’s very comfortable, I love the seats. It handles exceptionally, responds well, traction and excelleration/power are outstanding. It also gets great fuel mileage towing (19mpg), excellent fuel mileage when not towing (24mpg)."

Kevin S., TN (2017 Nissan Pathfinder)

"Very comfortable, ride quality is great! Only problem is the interior stains very easy...."

Anonymous, AL (2017 Nissan Pathfinder)

"The power seat adjusts easily and is comfortable"

Anonymous, FL (2017 Nissan Pathfinder)

Did you get what you wanted relative to the price you paid?

What Owners Say

"Costco Auto Program!"

Anonymous, VA (2017 Nissan Pathfinder)

"Seemed expensive but Xterras not made anymore"

Anonymous, UT (2017 Nissan Pathfinder)

"The base model was overpriced for what I got and compared to the Hyuandi that I had prior."

Anonymous, IL (2017 Nissan Pathfinder)

"The vehicle has far more standard options than the Pilot and the Highlander. Would have had to pay thousands more to get the same options on them. We were very disappointed with our 2012 Pilot and are happy that we switched to the Pathfinder. We had 6 previous Honda vehicles. Zero now."

Anonymous, SK (2017 Nissan Pathfinder)

"At a value price, this vehicle provides everything you would like in a vehicle."

Anonymous, NY (2017 Nissan Pathfinder)

"Compared to other comparable brands and models it was several dollars cheaper. I got all the bells and whistles without spending a fortune and they work great. I will definitely buy another. Oh and reliability, it is unsurpassed!"

Kevin S., TN (2017 Nissan Pathfinder)

"Had to pay a lot to get a couple features I wanted. Lots of features included I didn't want."

Anonymous, SD (2017 Nissan Pathfinder)
