    First Take
A redesign brought more room and a second sliding side door to the Nissan Quest/Mercury Villager. Engineered by Nissan and built by Ford in Ohio, both are still on the small side. A 170-hp V6 provides adequate acceleration. The Quest rides comfortably and quietly with a normal load, but a full load makes it dip and bob like a sailboat in a storm. We also found its emergency handling and braking performance wanting compared with many competing models. Front-seat comfort is just so-so. Poor crash-test results by the insurance industry also detract from the package.
