The Sentra is a pleasant small sedan in everyday driving. It has a comfortable ride, a quiet cabin, a roomy backseat, and a well-designed interior. But we found the Sentra tricky to control in a simulated emergency maneuver, as it had a tendency to lose grip too easily and slide. Braking was also unimpressive.

Overall Owner Satisfaction

Consumer Reports’ Annual Owner Satisfaction Survey can improve the chances of finding a compatible car match. How? Our survey data reveals whether, all things considered, owners would buy the same car again. The answer to that question is what determines our owner-satisfaction rating, which is a powerful piece of intel because it predicts how well a particular model will satisfy other owners.

ELLIE C., NJ (2011 Nissan Sentra)

"The driving and handling performance is very lack lustre. You step on the gas and it take it's sweet time to get going. Unless I am on a 4 lane highway I never feel safe passing another vehicle."

DARCY D., ON (2011 Nissan Sentra)

"Lack of power."

MICHAEL H., AZ (2011 Nissan Sentra)

"-Acceleration is surprisingly good--unless you have the AC running -Transmission lags between 2nd and 3rd gears--usually at worst possible times such as accelerating uphill or while merging into highway traffic. The only way around this is to floor the accelerator pedal. Then, the acceleration is a bit overly aggressive. -Road noise is bothersome on extended trips. -Winter driving is HORRIBLE--NOT RECOMMENDED AS PRIMARY VEHICLE in anything but the lightest of snow or sleet and then ONLY if roads"

Anonymous, PA (2011 Nissan Sentra)

"Accelerates well with lots of power for everyday driving. Nice small errand car or second vehicle."

Gary M., NS (2011 Nissan Sentra)

"No power steering, so it harder to steer than most cars."

Comfort

Includes seats, climate control, noise, and ride

What Owners Say

"Surprisingly comfortable for a small car. The trunk is large enough to fit all my daughters dorm stuff! Though this car is primarily driven by my son and daughter, I have driven it back and forth from their university that is a thousand miles from home and the car feels comfortable for these long drives and handles well at highway speeds!"

Anonymous, MD (2011 Nissan Sentra)

"The Sentra ride is slightly firm, but comfortable. The seats are manual, but have plenty of adjustments for comfort. Driving is fairly quiet and easy, which makes using the audio system a pleasure."

Robert B., MO (2011 Nissan Sentra)

"Economy. Great gas mileage when taking a trip, 37 mpg averaged on a recent trip."

Charles R., OR (2011 Nissan Sentra)

"I think build quality is low."

Anonymous, TN (2011 Nissan Sentra)

"Seats are manually adjustable and extremely uncomfortable. Noise is fairly loud and ride is fairly rough."

Michael S., ON (2011 Nissan Sentra)

"Way too much noise"

BRENDA T., GA (2011 Nissan Sentra)

"Very rough ride, feel every bump in the road. Bought this car because of the good gas mileage and the value, but at my age I need a more comfortable ride."

Anonymous, PA (2011 Nissan Sentra)

"The ride and comfort level is something you would expect in a much larger and more expensive vehicle. Very smooth on the open highway."

Gary M., NS (2011 Nissan Sentra)

"Very quiet ride on comfortable seats"

Anonymous, NC (2011 Nissan Sentra)

"Everything about the car is great except the climate control system. Intermittent air conditioning is a pain when it's over 100 outside. I've taken the car to the dealership several times and they can't find a problem because AC starts to work."

Dino G., CA (2011 Nissan Sentra)

"Rough and noisy ride."

Anonymous, TN (2011 Nissan Sentra)

"It can get noisy at times."

Stephen B., PA (2011 Nissan Sentra)

"It is very comfortable and it has very little road noise I really like that and ."

Anonymous, GA (2011 Nissan Sentra)

Value

Did you get what you wanted relative to the price you paid?

What Owners Say

"Good passenger space. Trunk space and seat fold down flexibility is great as it has allowed me to transport lumber, etc that wouldn't work as well in our SUV. Bought it when I was still working and was doing 60 mile round trip in / out of Boston each day. Mileage was very good the first couple years but, has gradually dropped off"

Anonymous, MA (2011 Nissan Sentra)

"I have purchased several new cars over the years and can truthfully say that the Sentra provided the best value of all."

Robert B., MO (2011 Nissan Sentra)

"At the time, it provided the best combination of fuel economony and reliability for the price paid."

James K., AZ (2011 Nissan Sentra)

"The horn does not work."

Anonymous, TN (2011 Nissan Sentra)

"Has provided good service and fairly maintainer free."

KATHLEEN B., PA (2011 Nissan Sentra)

"I bought my car used, paid it off in full, and it is going strong. It is the epitome of value, especially considering that I have not had to finance any major repairs."
