Introduction
2026 Ram 1500 REV Packs Big Power and Long RangeRam skips right past a conventional hybrid to offer an extended-range electric truck that can go 690 miles
Overview
The forthcoming Ram 1500 REV enhances the recently refreshed Ram 1500 pickup truck with an extended-range powertrain. It uses a 3.6-liter V6 engine and an onboard generator to charge a battery pack that propels the vehicle. This is similar to the concept used by the Chevrolet Volt, minus the mechanical connection with the engine.
The 1500 REV can also be charged like an electric vehicle. It’s compatible with Level 1 (120-volt) and Level 2 (240-volt) chargers, as well as 400-volt DC fast chargers.
The automaker has discontinued its plans to make an electric-only full-sized pickup truck to rival the Chevrolet Silverado EV, Ford F-150 Lightning, and GMC Sierra EV. (To add to the naming confusion, the previous electric-only truck was called 1500 REV. At least the Dodge Charger lineup is easy to decipher.) Before this change, Ram was poised to have one of the most diverse, full-sized truck lineups, but shifting market realities have caused this strategy revision.
In either configuration, the Ram has big power numbers, big screens, creature comforts galore, and all the latest bells and whistles.
We already bought and tested a Ram 1500. Those full road test results are now available.
Below is what we know about the Ram 1500 REV thus far.
It will go on sale in 2026.
It competes with the Chevrolet Silverado EV, Ford F-150 Lightning, GMC Sierra EV, Rivian R1T, and Tesla Cybertruck.
