Looking for a true workhorse? Look no further than the Ram 2500. This big heavy-duty (HD) truck enjoys the same improvements that the Ram 1500 benefited from over the last few years. Namely, the coil-spring rear suspension delivers a ride that is a bit more civilized than those of competing heavy-duty trucks. The Ram also benefits from an easy-to-use infotainment system.

Overall Owner Satisfaction

Consumer Reports’ Annual Owner Satisfaction Survey can improve the chances of finding a compatible car match. How? Our survey data reveals whether, all things considered, owners would buy the same car again. The answer to that question is what determines our owner-satisfaction rating, which is a powerful piece of intel because it predicts how well a particular model will satisfy other owners.

What Owners Say

"Towsl a trailer like the trailer wasn't even there."

Anonymous, TX (2016 Ram 2500)

"This medium-duty truck has a 6.4 Hemi gas engine. I was pleasantly surprised when it was found to AVERAGE 18+ MPG. This truck has been driven almost exactly on routes and at speeds matching those of the 06 GMC Sierra 1500 6-cylinder I owned previously. The GMC was only ever able to give, at most, 16 MPG. I am, therefore, very happy with this truck. Acceleration is unmatched- I can overtake any vehicle without apprehension as to on-coming traffic. The ride, as can be expected, is rather stiff, but on good roads is relatively smooth. Due to its rather high center of gravity, cornering is good as long as you approach corners intelligently. It is, by no means, a sports car. Also, the 2500 was the smallest truck that could be equipped with a full-sized Fisher plow that was not made of plastic. Overall, I'm very happy with this truck."

Richard G., NH (2016 Ram 2500)

"Fast, smooth acceleration, quickly reaching desired speed."

Anonymous, OR (2016 Ram 2500)

"The Dodge RAM 2500 has plenty of torque and power for towing and still has a smooth highway ride with very low road noise. On back roads the ride is a little stiff and road bumps will be felt, but the handling is good even on rough roads."

Anonymous, VA (2016 Ram 2500)

"Great performer for towing and everyday use Very comfortable ride my wife especially likes the control when towing feels very relaxed descending steep grades. A very competent vehicle for our uses"

Robert J., AZ (2016 Ram 2500)

"The diesel engine performs flawlessly and is getting better gas mileage as time goes by"

Wayne W., AB (2016 Ram 2500)

"I have the Power Wagon, It will go anywhere and that is good, but handles and accelerates as can be expected, like a tractor."

Mark M., TX (2016 Ram 2500)

"Power power power . . The Cummins is great, the handling is very good on the highway, but cumbersome around town"

Dave L., WA (2016 Ram 2500)

"The 6.2 gas engine is very responsive and powerful. It's great for pulling my RV."

Anonymous, TX (2016 Ram 2500)

"This is a larger pickup so getting it stopped quickly is a chore. The diesel engine takes a second to produce power to accelerate, unlike a gas engine, nut this may be due to the turbo lag."

Warren M., AZ (2016 Ram 2500)

"It has plenty of power"

THOMAS W., KY (2016 Ram 2500)

"I was genuinely impressed at how quiet and relatively smooth this 3/4 ton pickup drives. Averaging 20mpg with the Cummins Turbo diesel is also a pleasant surprise."

CARLOS A., FL (2016 Ram 2500)

Comfort

Includes seats, climate control, noise, and ride

What Owners Say

"Knowing that this is a 3/4 ton pickup, it rides better than a larger truck typically would. However, the ride is still stiff and the brake pedal is stiff. Over rough streets the ride is a bit jarring."

Warren M., AZ (2016 Ram 2500)

"With tires filled to recommended pressures, it will beat you to death."

Anonymous, TX (2016 Ram 2500)

"Need to make more comfortable seats"

Anonymous, CO (2016 Ram 2500)

"Seats are very comfortable. Firm, yet comfy and I do not slope out when corninering hard."

M R., MA (2016 Ram 2500)

"Seats are comfortable"

Anonymous, TX (2016 Ram 2500)

"Very comfortable seats, very quiet inside the cab and overall best pickup ride experience I've had."

Anonymous, OR (2016 Ram 2500)

"Wish passenger seat pushed back further."

Cindy H., KS (2016 Ram 2500)

"Very quiet and comfortable. this is the base model and the standard features are really nice"

Dave L., WA (2016 Ram 2500)

"For a truck the ride is mostly smooth and comfortable. The road and engine noise are minimal, especially for a diesel engine. The seats are very comfortable for even long drives."

James E., AZ (2016 Ram 2500)

"The 6.7 liter Cummins is so much quieter than my 2001 Ram 2500 it is unbelievable. The 2016 is very refined, the vented seats are excellent as is the ride comfort."

BRENT B., GA (2016 Ram 2500)

"very soft ride, quite ride"

PAMELA M., OR (2016 Ram 2500)

"Get the best Diesel engine"

Anonymous, TX (2016 Ram 2500)

"Handles heavy loads and pulling well"

Anonymous, CO (2016 Ram 2500)

"My 2106 Ram 2500 Cummins is a great truck. It is everything that I expected out of a Ram and Cummins. While it is not loaded by any means, it has all of the towing power I need and is nicely optioned with towing package, comfortable seating, electric windows and doors."
