    What Owners Say

    Display screen freezes up

"This problem was part of the global display problem discussed earlier. The electronics overheated due to a cooling fan failure (probably)."

Anonymous, CA (2024 Subaru Ascent Touring 2.4-L 4 Cyl turbo)
    Display screen goes blank

"The driver console display for the mileage and other information and the main display froze or when blank. It turned out the cooling fan failed and when every thing warmed up the electronics (probably the processor) overheated. The "head" unit was replaced under warranty. All is working as before. Unfortunately the part was back-ordered and it took approximately 1 month for the part to come in. I used a dealer provided loaner car for the month."

Anonymous, CA (2024 Subaru Ascent Touring 2.4-L 4 Cyl turbo)
    Other in-car electronics problem

"GPS system is terrible. Maps very outdated when I bought the car. Dealer didnt know how to update them. I finally figured it out. The gps system was part of a package, but is not a good system. Provided by tom tom."

The last visit, they found a wire in the wire harness, looped and rubbing on something. They fixed it and surrounded it with foam padding and think that will be the solution. The service rep mentioned it was probably a factory defect."

    What Owners Say

    12V battery

""We were experiencing some very cold weather. I went somewhere for about two hours and it wouldn't start. The infotainment system and dash went crazy, the brakes locked up. I attempted to restart it. Eventually, I called my husband and he jumped it. It didn't even have 5000 miles on it. It worked for two days and then I had issues again. At that point I called the dealership where we purchased the Ascent. They said it was a one off, all of the electronics make it susceptible to issues when it's cold. They told me to go buy a new battery. I said no, it's still under warranty. At that point they told me if it was mouse damage it wouldn't be covered under the warranty. They couldn't get me in for week and a half. I called another dealership and they could get me in in three days. They couldn't find anything wrong. A one off again. The weather. The tailgate uses a lot power. This was a Monday. Friday I went grocery shopping. I hadn't driven the car since Tuesday. We needed to jump it again. This time I received a warning that my airbags didn't work and I needed to get to a dealership immediately. I called the dealership and they got me in the next day. The battery was replaced. Problem solved. At least so far.""

Anonymous A., WI (2024 Subaru Ascent Limited 2.4-L 4 Cyl turbo)

"the car as well many other subaru models drains the battery if it is not driven for several days resulting in battery failure from charging. I have had 3 subarus 2017, 2019 and 2024, all 3 had this problem. the 2024 car came with a battery with 620 cranking amps. They replaced it one with 750 CA. no problems so for with this battery. nock on wood! if this does not fix the problem, no more subarus. this problem has affected thousands of their cars for years, i dont know why CR has not reported on it. more info 2565162367 d"

    What Owners Say

    Other climate system problem

""The air conditioner would not get cold when car was new last August, particularly after the car had been sitting closed up in the sun. Subaru checked the car and said that the car was delivered with only 40% of the refrigerant required. They performed a pressure test with dye and found no leaks. Refrigerant was added to the proper amount and the problem was solved for the remainder of the AC season 2024. Now, having tried the AC for the first time this season after the car had been sitting closed up in the sun the problem appears to have returned. Will be contacting Subaru again. This is unacceptable in a new car!""
