2006 Subaru Impreza Owner Satisfaction - Consumer Reports
The Impreza delivers agile handling and a compliant ride. All-wheel drive is standard. But the interior is cramped and spartan. The drag and weight from the AWD system takes a toll on acceleration and fuel economy. The Impreza is not as well-rounded as its competitors, but it does have appealing characteristics.

Overall Owner Satisfaction

Consumer Reports’ Annual Owner Satisfaction Survey can improve the chances of finding a compatible car match. How? Our survey data reveals whether, all things considered, owners would buy the same car again. The answer to that question is what determines our owner-satisfaction rating, which is a powerful piece of intel because it predicts how well a particular model will satisfy other owners.

Overall Owner Satisfaction

Owner Satisfaction with:

Driving Experience

Includes acceleration and handling

What Owners Say

"It's 12 years old and still drives like new. More noise from suspension system and engine than before, by dynamics have stayed the same."

Anonymous, ON (2006 Subaru Impreza)

"fast enough and handles well safe feeling"

Doug W., UT (2006 Subaru Impreza)

"Handling is still one of the best parts and power wise the older 2.5 Litre engines still give a good boost. My biggest problem I have is the fact that as my car has gotten older it has developed a random pull to either side depending on the road that I haven't been able to track down after an alignment."

Joshua R., CO (2006 Subaru Impreza)

"GREAT HANDLING IN THE SNOW"

Anonymous, VA (2006 Subaru Impreza)

"This old used car still accelerates extremely well. The AWD and excellent turning radius gives great handling."

Anonymous, CA (2006 Subaru Impreza)

"Clings to narrow, winding roads which leads to a confident feeling on the part of the driver. Also, breaks very surely and quickly. Acceleration, handling. And braking."

TOBY K., HI (2006 Subaru Impreza)

"Fun to drive"

Anonymous, OR (2006 Subaru Impreza)

Comfort

Includes seats, climate control, noise, and ride

What Owners Say

"Not very comfortable for a tall person"

Chad M., KY (2006 Subaru Impreza)

"I am a taller individual and find the seats uncomfortable for more than a short drive. The ride is good and the noise is so, so. It could be quieter on the road."

Anonymous, CO (2006 Subaru Impreza)

"lots of wind noise and stiff ride"

Anonymous, VT (2006 Subaru Impreza)

"The inside of the car is small and for large people can be a cramped ride. My husband and son have this problem with head and shoulder room. Neither of them can fit in the back seat. For me it is just right (I am average build and 5'5"."

Barbara S., BC (2006 Subaru Impreza)

"It is a rally sports car all wheel drive seats ok noise interior is not real quiet ride is fine"

Doug W., UT (2006 Subaru Impreza)

"Insufficient legroom for me in the drivers seat.. I am six feet tall. Even less legroom in the back."

Anonymous, CA (2006 Subaru Impreza)

"I previously owned subaru station wagons and find that the sedan has blind spots when trying to check physically for lane changing or backing up. If I had it to do again, I would get the impreza hatchback instead."

BARBARA S., BC (2006 Subaru Impreza)

"The road noise is greater than what would be ideal."

Anonymous, CA (2006 Subaru Impreza)

Value

Did you get what you wanted relative to the price you paid?

What Owners Say

"The car is problem free and reiialble. I have not replaced or repaired any part of the engine or transmission and it operates well. I paid $23,400 for my Subaru when I purchased it at the end of 2005. At that time I received a trade in value my 1996 Legacy Brighton station wagon for $10,000. That car had 150,000km on it and the only problem I was having was the door lock on the driver's side. The Impreza is my 4th Subaru since 1988 and I fully intend to buy another when I decide to replace..."

Barbara S., BC (2006 Subaru Impreza)

"4 wheel car, wagon for loading"

Anonymous, ON (2006 Subaru Impreza)

"Looks cool (deep blue/titanium); uber reliable; holding up very well after 9+ years of ownership. Good acceleration, great handling & road feel; solid, no small car choppiness ever; very good cargo space; road noise not bad; comfortable; seats are a little too firm on long trips. Reliability has been very good. Definitely would buy again."

Anonymous, CA (2006 Subaru Impreza)

"you get a ton of good engineering for a rather modest price"

MICHAEL C., CA (2006 Subaru Impreza)

"Have 207,000 miles on it. Still running strong."

JAMES D., NY (2006 Subaru Impreza)
