    Owner Reported Trouble Spots

The Reliability score is based on our latest subscriber survey of 2022 Subaru Legacy owners. The owner comments describe problems respondents experienced with this vehicle.

    In-car Electronics

Infotainment system (audio, GPS, phone), rear entertainment system, backup or other camera/sensors, head-up display.

    What Owners Say

    Android Auto

"My car does not connect to my Android well. It does not matter if it is with a cord or Bluetooth."

Anonymous, VA (2022 Subaru Legacy Premium 2.5-L 4 Cyl)
External music device interface (e.g., smart phone, MP3 player)

"The interface does not work well with Android Auto. It is a known problem and we had to buy an additonal item to make it work properly"

Anonymous, NY (2022 Subaru Legacy Base 2.5-L 4 Cyl)
    Other in-car electronics problem

"usually no immediate response when using screen touch controls. a second touch if extra slow cancels first touch. climate controls from 2nd screen menu are distracting; a knob and physical buttons would me much handier. Updates are awkward; the easiest is to download the update to a thumb drive and then insert the drive into the car"

Anonymous, OR (2022 Subaru Legacy Limited 2.5-L 4 Cyl)

"The audio system emitted a high-pitched screeching noise that was so loud and ear-piercing that I had to pull over to address it."

Anonymous, VA (2022 Subaru Legacy Premium 2.5-L 4 Cyl)
    Radio

"When you first start the car the SiriusXM raido will say loading. Once or twice a week it will not load and you can't use that function unless you turn off the engine, open the door and restart the engine. Then it will come on for a second and then turn off and restart the center console. Only then will it load properly. I have not had this loked at yet."

Anonymous, NY (2022 Subaru Legacy XT 2.5-L 4 Cyl)
    Speakers

"Ever since I bought my car my stereo speakers suddenly blast with lots of base. The only way I can get it to stop is to turn off the radio/satellite. Every time I bring my car in they say it just needs an update. It continues and no one knows why this is happening. I dont want another Subaru after all the aggravation this has been."

Anonymous, IL (2022 Subaru Legacy Premium 2.5-L 4 Cyl)

    Exhaust

Muffler, pipes, catalytic converter, exhaust manifold, heat shields, leaks.

    What Owners Say

    Exhaust leaks

    "Dont know"

Anonymous, MO (2022 Subaru Legacy Premium 2.5-L 4 Cyl)
    Muffler

    "Muffler loud; replaced"

Anonymous, MO (2022 Subaru Legacy Premium 2.5-L 4 Cyl)
    Other/unsure

    "Tires"

Anonymous, MI (2022 Subaru Legacy Limited 2.5-L 4 Cyl)

""We've had 2 windshields crack about a year apart. A rock hit each windshield on a long trip. It took a week to a month for the crack to appear after the rock hit it. Both were on a long trip we often take. I suspect the windshields aren't as strong as they used to be. Because it was hit by a rock, neither windshield was covered by warranty.""

Anonymous, CA (2022 Subaru Legacy Limited 2.5-L 4 Cyl)

    Climate System

AC compressor, blower (fan) motor, condenser, evaporator, heater system, automatic climate system, electrical failure, refrigerant leakage.

    What Owners Say

    Refrigerant leaks

""Refrigerat leaks were noted in the pre-delivery inspection when I bought the car (a Demonstrator with 11K on it) in 2022. These were fixed by immediate replacement at no charge to me. At the recent 65KM inspection, two more leaks were noted in differing areas of the air conditioning system, and these will be fixed at the beginning of May 2025, one third of the cost being paid by me, and 2/3 by my dealer, as the car is now out of warranty. I negotiated this deal 2 weeks ago.""

Anonymous, ON (2022 Subaru Legacy Touring 2.5-L 4 Cyl)

    Transmission Major

Transmission rebuild or replacement, torque converter, premature clutch replacement.

    What Owners Say

    Transmission rebuild or replacement

""The problem started about a year ago. Most notably, failure of safety systems like automatic braking. The service at Subaru diagnosed the need to replace the transmission.""
