Anonymous, TX (2004 Toyota Avalon 3.0-L V6)"The noise started in mid-2017. When driving over a speed bump, we would hear a ka-thunk that originated in the trunk area. The dealer wanted to replace most of the undercarriage, so we took it to our regular repair shop, who diagnosed cracked rear struts as the cause. They also noticed the inner and outer tie rod ends needed replacement. With those repairs alone, the noise is now gone. And the cost was less than half what the dealer proposed. The repair occurred in Apr 2018, and the car has been great ever since!"
Anonymous, OR (2004 Toyota Avalon XLS 3.0-L V6)"shocks need replacement now, but were replaced in 2016 and have had very little miles since then. Unknown if this is a recurring issue, or if the 2016 replacement was poorly done."
