What Owners Say
"Compare to my previous camry, quality has gotten worse. Sometime seat belt buckle get stuck between seat the the walk and I cannot pull it out. First time ever, the light shield(over hear) holder is broken, it stays down all the time. These are small problem but they are irritating factors and shows Toyota is using cheaper parts."
Anonymous, CA (2006 Toyota Camry)"Easy to handle, park in congested cities"
DONALD W., MI (2006 Toyota Camry)"When I have to merge with traffic, this plain, almost bottom of the line Camry, steps right up there and goes!"
BARBARA R., CA (2006 Toyota Camry)"Great exceleration. The car likes to go!"
Anonymous, CA (2006 Toyota Camry)"Great acceleration when getting on the highway. (XLE V6)"
Anonymous, MD (2006 Toyota Camry)"Acceleration not smooth. Mirror obstructs the view"
Anonymous, CA (2006 Toyota Camry)"Good power w/ the V6. Handles well for family sedan."
Anonymous, CT (2006 Toyota Camry)"My 99 Toyota handled much better. I could drive it with one finger. This one is harder to keep on the road and is not as much fun to drive."
JACQUELINE K., FL (2006 Toyota Camry)"Still handles like new."
ROBERT O., NJ (2006 Toyota Camry)"only thing I can think of to say is my camry is ready to go whenever I turned the key.I admit I once said I would never own a Jap Car, But I a'int from Missouri so I had to shown. What can I say-A nice little car."
FRED K., MA (2006 Toyota Camry)"The 2006 model has a very quirky acceleration issue. Online reports from other owners verifies that actual acceleration does not match the movement of the actual gas pedal. It is borderline dangerous until you get familiar with it and adapt to IT. Dealerships service departments will tell you that it can not be "fixed'. It handles wonderfully. The acceleration issue is the main reason I would never buy a 2006 camry again, if I knew of it ahead of time."
Anonymous, NY (2006 Toyota Camry)"4 cylinder engine gets good gas mileage & extremely reliable. But would like more power."
Anonymous, AB (2006 Toyota Camry)"A 4 cyl engine is really underpowered for the XLE model. It is too heavy for good acceleration, turns still quite stiff. The 4 cyl is supposed to have given much better gas mileage, but I don't consider 24 mpg great mileage. Overall, very satisfied with smooth ride, comfort, and all the luxuries that come in the XLE package. A well built car!"
JANET L., MI (2006 Toyota Camry)"Mileage. 136750 miles on odometer. Nice. Looking for another 100K"
DALE F., TX (2006 Toyota Camry)"The car is simple and more reliable than a domestic car. Very few problems except normal maintenance items. The driving feels the car is light and transmission transmits the power smoothly without waste or friction. The AC still runs after 11 years."
Anonymous, IL (2006 Toyota Camry)"Relatively mushy handling, disconnected from the road"
Anonymous, IL (2006 Toyota Camry)"The car drives very smoothly. Acceleration is good for a 4 cylinder engine. Overall, the car has not presented any major problem in the 10 years since purchase"
BILL B., IL (2006 Toyota Camry)"Comfortable, responsive, road responsive!"
CARL J., NY (2006 Toyota Camry)"It's an XLE with the 4 cylinder engine and all the accessories, yet, the performance/handling. etc., is very good, I see [and saw] no need for a V6. We have taken several cross country trips and it does quite well in the mountains even when loaded with luggage. I almost always run the speed limits or a little over, traffic and weather permitting."
Anonymous, CA (2006 Toyota Camry)"I've never driven a car which such outstanding turn ratio, making very nimble, tight turns and not having to back up partway through to complete a tight turn. It is such an easy car to drive and steer."
Anonymous, CA (2006 Toyota Camry)"Even though my Camry is 13 years old (I bought in 2015) it still works and drives great."
Lisa S., FL (2006 Toyota Camry)"Great acceleration and handling. Does have tendency for the tires to slip while starting off on wet roads."
David O., KY (2006 Toyota Camry)"handling"
Anonymous, CA (2006 Toyota Camry)"We have had it for many years and as long as we have it maintained regularly, it is a great vehicle with no major repairs so far even though it has nearly 200,000 miles on it."
Roy B., CA (2006 Toyota Camry)"THE HANDLING IS REASONABLE FOR A CAR THAT IS 12 YEARS OLD AND THE ACCELERATION IS WHAT ONE WOULD EXPECT FROM AN OLDER 4 BANGER."
Anonymous, MB (2006 Toyota Camry)"acceleration is great. this is just a joy to drive."
Perry M., VA (2006 Toyota Camry)"great excelleration and handling"
Anonymous, WI (2006 Toyota Camry)"Acceleration is fair. Not much pep. Handling was poor when braking until I upgraded the brake rotors."
Mark S., AZ (2006 Toyota Camry)"Acceleration and handling have been excellent"
Robert K., NY (2006 Toyota Camry)"This car even though it has a small engine, gets us in and out of traffic and up and down the mountain passes. Easy to maneuver."
Michael M., WA (2006 Toyota Camry)"excelleration and handling are excellent"
Anonymous, MD (2006 Toyota Camry)"quick acceleration for merging"
Anonymous, MN (2006 Toyota Camry)"The only comment I have is that the transmission at times seems like it cannot decide which gear to engage, especially when slowing down expecting to stop but discovering I do not need to stop (like when a light turns green unexpectedly). Could be my driving style though. Tough to call."
Greg C., GA (2006 Toyota Camry)"Has very good acceleration and handling particularly on interstate driving."
R C., OH (2006 Toyota Camry)"I like the way I can merge with freeway traffic when I "give it the gas." It has enough pep to go when I need it to."
Barbara R., CA (2006 Toyota Camry)"Very pleased with styling inside and out of my sand-colored Camry. It stands out nicely and has a refined classic look."
Anonymous, NY (2006 Toyota Camry)"The drive by wire had never worked correctly although I've taken it back to the dealer. The problem is that it bogs down when trying to do a panic acceleration. This could be dangerous when trying to enter traffic."
Anonymous, MO (2006 Toyota Camry)"Quite"
Anonymous, IL (2006 Toyota Camry)"excellent acceleration and handling after 11 years. Very good gas mileage."
Anonymous, ON (2006 Toyota Camry)"Very nimble and easy to maneuver in traffic."
Anonymous, TX (2006 Toyota Camry)"Car handles relatively well, but as it has aged the suspension has gotten softer. At this point it is too costly to replace the struts / shocks."
Anonymous, NJ (2006 Toyota Camry)"It's 4 cylinder and it actually has pretty good pep for such a small engine."
Anonymous, AK (2006 Toyota Camry)"Personally found the braking soft compared to the Elantra and had to mentally adjust to difference when driving the Camry."
Anonymous, ON (2006 Toyota Camry)"I am fully satisfied by the acceleration and handling of this car. We recently took it to the mountains up windy roads. It handles well even at 11 years old. Doesn't drag at all."
