The Camry proved capable, quiet and well rounded in all test versions, but not exciting to drive. Handling is sound, though not sporty. Ride quality is comfortable and the interior is roomy. While all powertrains are refined and economical, the V6 XLE is very quick and the Hybrid combines good performance with great fuel economy.

What Owners Say

"Acceleration and handling are typical of the class."

Anonymous, NY (2007 Toyota Camry)

"Is ok"

Richard P., AL (2007 Toyota Camry)

"While the standard 4 cylinder engine will not beat many other vehicles "off the line", it will keep up with any other vehicle on the road. And, since I am not one for jackrabbit starts, this works fine for me."

Robert M., MD (2007 Toyota Camry)

"Very responsive, easy to drive."

Anonymous, MA (2007 Toyota Camry)

"Handling is crisp, Highway ride is smooth, hope they don't try to improve one at the expense of the other"

Anonymous, CO (2007 Toyota Camry)

"As an older vehicle, acceleration is excellent and handling is very good."

Anonymous, AB (2007 Toyota Camry)

"it's a very easy handling car and I love the 6 engine. Rapid acceleration in some instances is very useful."

Anonymous, NJ (2007 Toyota Camry)

"I love this car for how well it accelerates getting on & off freeway, changing lanes or going up hills. The ride is smooth & enjoyable to drive."

Anonymous, WA (2007 Toyota Camry)

"Even with over 240000 miles, it has the same power, same gas mileage, is smooth in acceleration and only last fall did I have to replace any brake pads-due to the regenerating braking system."

Anonymous, WA (2007 Toyota Camry)

"acceleration and handling are excellent."

Anonymous, PA (2007 Toyota Camry)

"3.5L V6 has amazing acceleration and passing power, and is good on gas mileage while cruising at highway speeds of 75 or so. The front wheel drive is great for traction in rain and snow, and this vehicle is very nimble and responsive."

Anonymous, TX (2007 Toyota Camry)

"It is not a Porsce, but it accelewraters from 70 to 110mph well enough when needed to pass."

Anonymous, CA (2007 Toyota Camry)

"Tracks well. Responsive steering. With the V-6 I am able to pass vehicles with good acceleration."

Anonymous, AZ (2007 Toyota Camry)

"It has a lot of pep for a four cylinder engine, and my wife especially likes how easy it is to park."

Fred S., TX (2007 Toyota Camry)

"Very smooth acceleration and braking, very quiet."

David W., MD (2007 Toyota Camry)

"My V 6 engine 3.5L, great engine"

Joseph D., FL (2007 Toyota Camry)

"Good acceleration and easy steering"

Delores L., TN (2007 Toyota Camry)

"Because this thing is a hybrid it gets excellent acceleration onto the expressway. We have never had a problem on snow or ice with our Michelin all season tires."

Anonymous, IL (2007 Toyota Camry)

"Accelerates adequately, but hard to start out smoothly. Especially hard to start backing smoothly because acceleration from stop is too abrupt."

David B., VA (2007 Toyota Camry)

"road handling"

Anonymous, MN (2007 Toyota Camry)

"The Camry feels almost like a sports car"

Anonymous, OR (2007 Toyota Camry)

"Acceleration has always been good for a 4-cylinder engine. Handling is mostly good. This vehicle maintains its alignment well and is good at cornering for a sedan. I think this car would have been better with stiffer steering."

Anonymous, OH (2007 Toyota Camry)

"drives good"

Anonymous, MI (2007 Toyota Camry)

"Acceleration is smooth and fairly quick."

Anonymous, MD (2007 Toyota Camry)

Ronald H., IA (2007 Toyota Camry)

"V6 has all the power you need"

Anonymous, ON (2007 Toyota Camry)

"Toyota did a very good job constructing a reliable vehicle. Although this vehicle doesn't have those late safety devises, we feel very safe when traveling. Would be nice to have this same level of construction, but in a much later version."

Anonymous, PA (2007 Toyota Camry)

"Driving a hybrid is enjoyable. The high torque electric motors make acceleration on Interstate or passing far better than the similar 4 cylinder Camry model. and getting 40 mpg plus performance in a more affordable car than say a Accura TL is a hat trick."

E F., IN (2007 Toyota Camry)

"The handling is good a little tight on high speed tight turns. Considering the gas engine is a 4 cylinder the acceleration is amazing due to the variable pully transmission."

Anonymous, NY (2007 Toyota Camry)

"It always starts."

Anonymous, VA (2007 Toyota Camry)

"Good visibility relative to large SUV's on road, and excellent acceleration."

Peter H., NJ (2007 Toyota Camry)

"It handles fine, though it seems like its turning radius is larger than I expect. I'm not happy with its acceleration. It doesn't hesitate like my 1970 Chevy Nova did, but it is slow to respond when I need to get out into traffic or get away from a traffic situation."

Frank G., CA (2007 Toyota Camry)

"See previous comment"

Sami G., VA (2007 Toyota Camry)

"acceleration is not very smooth and sounds like I'm driving a truck"

Willie A., FL (2007 Toyota Camry)

"the mileage is not as good as i thought it would be, but the hybrid makes passing in short distances great as it acts as if it is turbo charged."

Anonymous, PA (2007 Toyota Camry)

"Has v6, very snappy with a quiet and smooth ride, especially since it's over 10 yrs old"

Anonymous, ON (2007 Toyota Camry)

"Excellent acceleration and handling (6 cylinder)."

Anonymous, MO (2007 Toyota Camry)

"This was rated as the "Car of the Year" for 2007 in CR auto book. We couldn't agree more. When we found this car 2 yrs ago we were quite pleased and continue to be. It has pep when we need it to merge into traffic and it handles beautifully."

Patty G., PA (2007 Toyota Camry)

"It's very peppy for acceleration, its handling is on the loose side"

Anonymous, VA (2007 Toyota Camry)

"Quiet and reliable"

Anonymous, WI (2007 Toyota Camry)

"Sufficient power for passing."

Anonymous, OK (2007 Toyota Camry)

Anonymous, CA (2007 Toyota Camry)

"The 6-cylinder engine has great acceleration."

J S., MO (2007 Toyota Camry)

R V., PA (2007 Toyota Camry)

"V-6 engine is very responsive"

Anonymous, IN (2007 Toyota Camry)

"Great road car. Handles great, acceleration is outstanding, even after 11 years."

Jon L., MO (2007 Toyota Camry)

"Excellent acceleration, even in the mountains of Colorado. Very comfortable and quiet ride."

Anonymous, CO (2007 Toyota Camry)

"Acceleration is quite good. Handling very average in its class."

Brant W., CT (2007 Toyota Camry)

"With the small Atkinson cycle 4 cylinder engine you might expect the Camry Hybrid to be slow, but it's not. 12 years in, and approaching 200k miles and our Camry still provides spirited sprints from traffic lights comparing well to similar sized 4-door sedans with small V-6 / large 4-cyl engines. Braking is just ok, and handling in winter weather is mediocre at best ... but on dry roads the Camry eats decreasing-radius off-ramps at speed feeling sure-footed and maintaing good stability."

John R., VA (2007 Toyota Camry)

"The car rides very nicely. The acceleration is better than adequate and the car handles very well."

Keith B., SK (2007 Toyota Camry)

"power is excellent and handles well"

Donald W., FL (2007 Toyota Camry)

Joseph S., NY (2007 Toyota Camry)

"Acceleration and handling"

Anonymous, NY (2007 Toyota Camry)

"Once you get used to a hybrid's nuances, it's like sailing a small sailboat. Driving the car is like playing a video game to see how much mileage I can get out if a tank of gas. I win at the gas pump every time."

Richard B., IL (2007 Toyota Camry)

"Very peppy for a 4 cly"

Thomas L., FL (2007 Toyota Camry)

"Very responsive."

Gerald H., PA (2007 Toyota Camry)

"Feels great to drive"

Anonymous, VA (2007 Toyota Camry)

"Acceleration is OK considering this is a 4-cylinder engine. The gas pedal has always been funky in that the sensor in the accelerator doesn't really sense you're putting on the gas until it has been depressed an inch or so - and then it thinks you are almost trying to "punch it." Dealer denied it was faulty. I've learned to depress the pedal very slowly from a start in order to get a smooth transition from a stop. It's always been that way since I purchased the car on November 30, 2006 (though it's a 2007.)"

Jon H., CA (2007 Toyota Camry)

"Always seems to have a lot of pep. Handles very well."

Anonymous, PA (2007 Toyota Camry)

"Acceleration is excellent. I have gotten out of tough spots easily and quickly, which has allowed me to avoid accidents. I have been able to maintain control easily during times when sudden acceleration was needed."

Steven S., NJ (2007 Toyota Camry)

"Very pleased with the boost the electric motors give for passing."

Anonymous, CA (2007 Toyota Camry)

Anonymous, BC (2007 Toyota Camry)

"I enjoy driving my Camry very much! I am very comfortable operating in heavy traffic!, handling is great!"

Charles L., WA (2007 Toyota Camry)

"I bought this car in 2008 as a certified used vehicle--and it has barely cost me a penny since then. I've had to replace the battery three times because it sits in the garage most of the winter (it was originally my son's car but he walks to work now and does not keep the car in the city), but other than that, it has performed reliably in the 10 years I've owned it. The acceleration and handling are as good today as they were the day I purchased it. Many people have offered to buy this car from me, but I won't sell it. It's just a good little car that's dependable and doesn't cost much to run."

Clare F., NY (2007 Toyota Camry)

"A very reliable car. after 11 years, I had to finally replace the original spark plugs and drive belt. Great running car and handling has always been great."

Norman V., VA (2007 Toyota Camry)

"Poor acceleration at highway speeds ( noticeable hesitation when trying to pass or quick acceleration on an onramp)"

JOEL C., CA (2007 Toyota Camry)

"Im enjoy driving the V six engine and I would not be content with the four cyl engine."

Anonymous, FL (2007 Toyota Camry)

"Smooth, quiet nd quick"

Anonymous, FL (2007 Toyota Camry)

"Acceleration is controlled by computer. Attempting to accelerate after decelerating results in more deceleration."

GERALD Q., MA (2007 Toyota Camry)

"This car drives beautifully. It has very quick response. I never worry about merging onto the busy freeways here in Southern California. I can stomp on it and get right out there. Handling is sure, not at all sloppy. Braking is great."

KATRINA S., CA (2007 Toyota Camry)

"Nice ride"

Anonymous, MI (2007 Toyota Camry)

"Steerying/handling is very, very sensitive. It has an un-normal feel too it - just the slightest move at the steering wheel and I feel like I suddenly could be in the next lane, especially at higher speeds."

RON C., UT (2007 Toyota Camry)

"It accelerates very good. It handles quite well for a car the rides as smooth as it does."

KENT H., UT (2007 Toyota Camry)

"I have the V6 version - it accelerates very briskly - makes merging onto congested highways almost effortless. Yet, I get very good overall gas mileage for a non hybrid. On extended trips closer to 31 mph."

ROBERT A., FL (2007 Toyota Camry)

"Transmission would slip and the engine would rev up in 3rd gear intermittently. It got worst as the more miles on the car. While under warranty, the dealer said it was normal for this transmission. Later, I found out that there was a firmware upgrade for the transmission issue. But I was out of warranty, and I had to pay $125 for the upgrade."

"Good acceleration - handles well on secondary roads - their is a problem with the rear stabilizer (torsion bar)"

JOSEPH K., NH (2007 Toyota Camry)

Anonymous, GA (2007 Toyota Camry)

"Sluggish acceleration has been the the biggest issue since day one. After some research, found out that Toyota had some design issues with 2007 Camry, related to engine/transmission interaction. After two computer firmware upgrades, acceleration improved quite significantly, but is still worse, compared to other vehicles we have owned."

Also, the angle of the seat, no matter how I adjust it, and the lack of lumbar support produce back and leg pain even after a 20 min. ride. I am very stiff when I get out, and this does not always happen in other cars in which I have ridden. It may keep me from buying another Camry, and the Rav 4 is just too high."

It's quiet (low road/tire/engine noise); the seats are -still- supportive and a great mix of firm and comfortable; with new tires the car rides as if it were still a new car. "Quietness relative to the Suburu Outback and a lot of other cars The seats give me enough support that I don't get back trouble on long trips. My wife, however, piles three seat cushions on top of the seat and complains most about the seats being bucket seats which are too narrow for her behind. I overinflate the tires by 3-5 psi to increase mpg. By the way, asking how many mpg we get without asking about city vs. highway driving is puzzling. This car averaged 35 mpg on a 5500 mile trip in July and August. Around town it gets 30 mpg."

What Owners Say

"My fully loaded 2007 Camry Hybrid with over 160,000 miles has been a dream car for reliability. The only thing I had to fix was a water pump gasket which cost about $850 to replace and this was covered by the extended warranty I purchased when I bought the car. Otherwise, all I have had to do is rotate and replace tires, change oil and get a tune up at 100,000 miles. It still looks and drives like new. Extremely highly recommended. Gas mileage is great. This car has smooth riding and handling."

I know Toyota makes a quality vehicle, and considered the Honda Accord also. At the time of purchase, the end of March 2007, I was able to get a good deal on the car since I lived in a mostly truck/SUV market. I have not had any major issues with my Camry.
