What Owners Say

"2.4 L engine takes a lot of coaxing to get moving, especially when AC is on. Sometimes remains in gear much too long, especially if hard accelerating and then letting off the gas. It's like the transmission gets confused."

Anonymous, NJ (2016 Toyota Camry)

"Peppy and no problem passing or merging. Handles well in corners. Great for a family car."

Anonymous, RI (2016 Toyota Camry)

"Would prefer a different type/way to change radio stations. Love the get up and go response and easy steering. Great on gas usage. Not happy that the steering wheel cannot be raised higher for easier entrance to driver's seat."

Anonymous, CA (2016 Toyota Camry)

"Quiet, smooth running, more than adequate power, pleasant to drive."

Celso L., OR (2016 Toyota Camry)

"It has a sport suspension which makes it handle unusually smartly."

James T., VA (2016 Toyota Camry)

"Good acceleration and handling. Easy cornering and control on bad roads."

Anonymous, LA (2016 Toyota Camry)

"Very good acceleration; handles like a sport sedan, too large of a turning radius"

S M., IL (2016 Toyota Camry)

"The Car drives like a 6 cylinder even though it’s a 4 because of the hybrid engine but gets gray gas mileage."

Anonymous, CA (2016 Toyota Camry)

"will cruise at highway speeds with little effort and has enough reserve to pass other cars"

Richard F., KS (2016 Toyota Camry)

"The 4 cylinder accelerates very well and handling is also very good."

Julie C., TX (2016 Toyota Camry)

"really good gas mileage, good handling"

Anonymous, FL (2016 Toyota Camry)

"I owned a previous Camry for 15 years and it was more comfortable because there is a peripheral block in this 2016 model that wasn't in my 2000 Camry."

Anonymous, TX (2016 Toyota Camry)

"accelerates easily, even going up hills"

Anonymous, MO (2016 Toyota Camry)

"We have the V6 so it accelerates rapidly."

Anonymous, SC (2016 Toyota Camry)

"The options for push-button ease of selecting your driving preference is a beautiful thing. EV mode, though rarely used by me, is a nice option for slow going. When in hybrid mode it's a great gas savings option. But the real excitement is in standard driving mode. I only have the LE model and the acceleration is impressive to say the least. I don't partake in street racing or anything like that, but every now and then I like to slam it down to feel that thrill...my girlfriend thinks I'm ridiculous but whatever."

Michael M., OH (2016 Toyota Camry)

"the 6 speed transmission seems to perform better in my `16 model than the trans. in my `18 model."

R H., PA (2016 Toyota Camry)

"Steering is stiff & has a dead spot at center. WORK to drive long distance. Turned off lane keeper function as it was beeping all the time. Complained to dealer, wheel alignment was off, drivable after alignment. Was told "Don't buy those tires" about original equipment tires."

Russell M., OH (2016 Toyota Camry)

"The handling is very smooth and easy. It's a comfortable ride and easy to parallel park."

Anonymous, FL (2016 Toyota Camry)

"Dependability of everything."

Anonymous, OH (2016 Toyota Camry)

"Acceleration is excellent. No issues entering highways"

Anonymous, GA (2016 Toyota Camry)

"Amazing acceleration even with electric engine engaged"

Robert D., FL (2016 Toyota Camry)

"Lousy manufacture of key fob. Two failures one warranty repair in one year. Second, $330 repair bill. Little tap of plastic hold metal key to plastic. Cannot start car without the correct key fob. Very upset about design and expense."

Anonymous, WA (2016 Toyota Camry)

"The 2.5 liter engine with hybrid battery generates 200hp making the acceleration even quicker than my 2003 Camry XLE without the hybrid package. Before purchasing the vehicle, I thought I would be losing performance in this area but it the Camry Hybrid passes my expectations."

Wayne B., TX (2016 Toyota Camry)

"Car performs very well and is very reliable. it is very easy to drive and gets good gas mileage even though it gets to 60 in 6.1. seconds. Engine and power train are just about perfect."

David B., AA (2016 Toyota Camry)

"Handles well at stops and in turns"

Anonymous, WI (2016 Toyota Camry)

"The 2016 Camry has the best acceleration and handling of any car I have purchased or rented. It can take curves like a sports car and accelerate like one."

Phillip K., TX (2016 Toyota Camry)

"We just returned from a 4000 mile vacation. We had the tires rotated front to back just before leaving. at about 10000 miles, both front tires (which had been on the rear) were bald down to the fabric and one of them blew on the highway. I would expect original tires to last longer than two years/10,000 miles. These were Firestone tires. We had to get both tires replaced by a Toyota dealer on our vacation for $600. The new tires supposedly have a 60,000 mile warranty and we hope they last for as long as we keep the car. The car handles well and has fine acceleration even for mountain driving."

"Acceleration and handling"

Anonymous, SC (2016 Toyota Camry)

"This car was supposed to be a fuel sipper. I was not expecting performance. Much to my surprise, it is fast off the line and has plenty of reserve for passing during highway driving."

Anonymous, MD (2016 Toyota Camry)

"Really happy with the ability to accelerate around slow moving vehicles on mountain road with only a few passing areas. Very quick 50 to 80. Also like the whine of deceleration to a stop that I think is regenerative braking. Blind spot monitors are very helpful, as is adaptive cruise control."

Stephen B., OR (2016 Toyota Camry)

"good, acceleration at take off from 0 mph to 60 mph, and take over on the highway bad, lack of response when braking, too slow when needed."

Melinda C., BC (2016 Toyota Camry)

"The fun of a Hybrid is trying to keep the battery level on high snd to do this, one must learn to COAST. One has to look for roads where one can go down a hill and not need to use the gas pedal"

Jill R., CA (2016 Toyota Camry)

"Both. Good pickup and response."

Anonymous, AZ (2016 Toyota Camry)

"my 2016 Camry has great handling and acceleration - I love my Camry"

Jane L., OH (2016 Toyota Camry)

"This car handles remarkably well for for its size and price. Acceleration is very good in most circumstances, especially since it gets up to 40 mpg on the highway. The 6 speed automatic transmission appears to be governed perhaps too much by slight hill inclines and relatively mild changes in accelerator position. Even so, I've very happy with how well this car drives."

Anonymous, CA (2016 Toyota Camry)

"My daily commute is 75 miles of stop and go on California freeways. It is critical to have good acceleration and handling for defensive driving here. At first I was concerned that the 4 cylinder would have trouble but this car handles great and has never let me down in a jam."

Anonymous, CA (2016 Toyota Camry)

"The Camry is a larger car and can take more stuff. It handles really well, has no trouble going Idaho's 80mph on the interstate. The LE gets pretty good mpg on the road. We traveled down the west coast last summer had no trouble and averaged around 35mpg."

Lamar W., ID (2016 Toyota Camry)

"It has surprisingly great feedback in the steering wheel. Our old 2000 Camry felt slushy, loose. This one handles really well. Acceleration is good too."

Mary B., IL (2016 Toyota Camry)

"Very good in snow and very good pickup for a four cylinder! Very well balanced car."

Ken B., SD (2016 Toyota Camry)

Dennis C., MA (2016 Toyota Camry)

Anonymous, CA (2016 Toyota Camry)

"Steering and handling felt odd the first year, not confidence-inspiring at speed on curves. Ran snow tires over the winter, rotated original tires the next spring. The problem went away, and it handles fine now. I suspect that different tires will make another improvement."

Barry R., NC (2016 Toyota Camry)

"Very quick"

Anonymous, CA (2016 Toyota Camry)

"Excellent"

George R., MI (2016 Toyota Camry)

"The six speed automatic transmission is excellent for producing acceleration. The Camry is very easy to drive. I wish Toyota would link an audible warning along with the visual warning for blind spot detection. You need to take your eye off the road to see the flashing light in the mirror."

Anonymous, OH (2016 Toyota Camry)

"It tracks solid and straight on the freeways. I personally think it is an excellent accelerating car. A person really does not need more in every day driving. It is quick for a 4 cylinder engine. The 6 speed automatic shifts fast and firm when you need it to."

Anonymous, MN (2016 Toyota Camry)

Merwin M., SC (2016 Toyota Camry)

"The acceleration and handling of the Hybrid is quite enjoyable and surprises my family and friends who assume a Hybrid isn't as agile as other cars."

Richard C., TX (2016 Toyota Camry)

Anonymous, NY (2016 Toyota Camry)

"It is very pleasant to drive. Very responsive acceleration and a feeling of control in maneuvers. The one negative is the electronic steering, which is good, but gives very little road feedback. This would be easy for Toyota to fix, but they do not seem to consider it a problem."

DAVE B., VA (2016 Toyota Camry)

"Camry is a great overall product, comfort and reliability have been fantastic on our last 4 Camrys. Rear suspension dampening could be further improved on the 2016. They tried to make it handle better, but I would rather have the smoothest ride possible. XLE trim is very nice, and comfortable especially considering the price point."

Vincent S., PA (2016 Toyota Camry)

"passenger seat (front) is forgotten when it comes to comfort. none of the particular adjustments are available to passenger - only to driver. (this includes, of course, the back seats) passenger seat is permanently placed so that the back of the seat (where the passenger's back end rests) is lower than the level of the knees. very difficult to get out of and into if there is any arthritis. unable to adjust back rest - which may help with the uncomfortable seat placement. never, ever place the butt below the knees in seating, if at all possible. very uncomfortable!"

"There is road noise inside the car while driving. That's not a really big deal, though. More important to explain is that, at one point, I had a new noise when turning corners. I thought it was coming from right rear wheel. It turned out to be a problem with the sun/moon roof. The mechanic had a bulletin on it, so it must be a regular problem. He put a shimmy of some kind in it, and the noise went away. It was covered by warranty."

That year's model allows me to get in a position for maximum comfort. Unfortunately, as of the 2018 model, Toyota changed the seat adjustment configuration and the seats can no longer be adjusted to a more elongated position and I can't drive in newer ones. It's very disappointing, because I love everything else about the car but can't upgrade to a newer model."

The tires that came with the vehicle were rated at 60000 miles but I only got 38000 before they had to be replaced. Which is unusual sine most of my driving is highway. The seats are a little wider than most allowing me to settle into the seat pan with out sitting on the bolster. Most other brands have stiff seat bolsters making the ride uncomfortable for me. The ride is comfortable and quieter than most for a mid size sedan. It does have good acceleration but, you really need to push down hard on the gas pedal to get that acceleration. "I got a great lease (3-year) on this 2016 Camry. I waited until the end of the model year, as I had done with my previous 2013 Camry lease. I intend to get another Camry lease next year. I actually think it may be cheaper to lease from Toyota than to buy because they cover most maintenance for the first 2 years, and nothing ever seems to to wrong with them. I like getting a new car every 3 years because the technology is updated and I never have to worry about major maintenance."

Anonymous, CA (2016 Toyota Camry)

"We found the LE version of this Camry to be a very good value because it is very roomy, well made in the USA, offers very good handling, acceleration, easy access to comfortable back seat, excellent turning radius, super highway fuel economy, great highway range and a large trunk. The only feature we thought should be included at the price (but was not available in the LE is auto climate control."

When it (finally) had to go off life-support, the Camry was still just about the highest-rated care on Consumer Report. So with those two factors in consideration, we stuck with the Camry. Not glamorous, but very nice."

Won't claim it's 'sporty' but a definite improvement over 2012-2014 look. Larger trunk than 2007 by at least two 50 lb bags of horse feed. Very little blind spot areas. Headlights vast improvement over previous model."

Anonymous, QC (2016 Toyota Camry)

"The only poor styling is the front outside. I do not care for the large vent-look front. I prefer Honda's front style, however it was not a buy or no-buy consideration. The buy decision was because of a better trade in valuation of our older cars that reduced out of pocket costs. I owned a 2005 Matrix with only 27,000 miles and an Oldsmobile 1998 - 88LS with less than 80,000 miles. Our cost was $15,000 including an extended warranty."

THOMAS E., TN (2016 Toyota Camry)

"the 2016 Camry XLE V6 is the only car that has the inside stop light offset to the left of the center line of the car by an inch. I was told that is the way its built. If there was a fifth led light, the center stop light would be centered on its center line with the car's center line."
