What Owners Say
"Back-up camera no longer works"
Anonymous, AZ (2016 Toyota Highlander XLE 3.5-L V6)"The display screen and audio will periodically shut down and reboot"
Anonymous, TN (2016 Toyota Highlander XLE 3.5-L V6)""From the time of initial purchase, there is an intermittent issue that occurs on start-up. About 1 time out of 50, the display screen does not initialize (so no sound system, no rear camera, etc.) at the time that the vehicle is turned on, lasting anywhere from 30 seconds to 90 seconds. Due to the frequency of occurrence, techs in the service shop were never able to reproduce or troubleshoot the problem. It still happens at about the same frequency as it did in 2016.""
Anonymous, (2016 Toyota Highlander XLE 3.5-L V6)""The navigation system works however one big circle came up in the middle, followed by another in the middle and then another and another. You can not see the screen to use navigation due to the circles taking up the screen.""
Anonymous, TX (2016 Toyota Highlander LE 2.7-L 4 Cyl)""The GPS software failed. It did not recognize that we were on I81 in PA; it thought we were in VA. Once we got within 100 miles of our MD home, it started to operate normally but, when we returned to PA, it refused to properly geolocate us or calculate routes. There was no way to reload software or revert to factory settings. We replaced the headunit with an aftermarket unit that had many features we wanted, like expanded XM, DVD, and Android Auto. We've never liked the Toyota infotainment system.""
Anonymous A., MD (2016 Toyota Highlander Limited 3.5-L V6)"Just stoped working"
Anonymous, AZ (2016 Toyota Highlander Limited 3.5-L V6)""Until 6 months ago fine. Got a phone with Android Auto I don't want & tried to turn off. I think the "Auto" feature is preventing proper pairing. 90% will not connect! If it does garbled noise, can't make out what is said or they can't hear you at all. Spectrum says not their network is car. Worked perfect until I got a phone with the Auto feature. They just made it illegal to use a phone & drive. People angry who can't reach me cause does not connect to car anymore! It is NOT resolved & I have no idea how to fix it. I hate Android Auto & it can't be removed from the phone. I had a Galaxy s20-5g but it lacked 5g(was4g)so bought a 2nd Galaxys20-5g to get monthly rate down only this one has Android Auto! I paid $75 a month w 4g; now I can't pair with the 5g to my car. I hate the situation but don't know what to do. Is it the car or Android Auto?????""

Anonymous, KY (2016 Toyota Highlander Limited 3.5-L V6)"Auto came with preinstalled Sirius and XM or one other streaming service. They cant be deleted so when you want to change FM channel and push the screen is automatically goes to XM an wants me to sign up. I can use the knob to change channels but hitting mode goes to XM. Toyota couldnt help? Very frustrating."

"I think I covered it. It is the only difference between the 2 phones other than 1 is actually 4g & paired perfect; & the new same phone is 5g with that Android Auto & doesn't pair usually & when it does its a disaster to hold a conversation! A walkie talkie probably is clearer. I'm disabled & can't walk if I have car trouble. It'd be nice if the phone would pair to the car like it did on the one without Android Auto. Verizon was my provider w the 4g phone & I switch to Spectrum as I was sick of a $75 charge for a 4g phone! Love the savings hate that the actual 5g doesn't pair correctly."
